RE: Recall of 19/20 Ram Cummins 6.7 diesels

Where have you seen that it's not spec'ed for 15W40? The 17, 20 and now 18 that I had all said either that or 5W40. The fuel pump was one of the reasons I traded my 20 in on a 18, along with the overheating isues I could never figure out.

RE: Chasing No left turn Signal on Trailer With Ram Truck

Definitely check the fuses under the hood. I have a trailer that likes to short out the trailer signals almost every time, I need to change the lights on it and be done.

RE: 2010 ram 3500 steering upgrade?

I had ball joints done on mine at 65k. Didn't even know that they were bad, That's my point, they may not have been. Parts replacers vs mechanics and up-sell artists diagnose alot of things that "need to be replaced." I should have stuck with a profession where the clientele is largley uninformed regarding the services they need. Waaay easier to make a profit than working for "experts" clients! They actually were, the shop that had put my tires on thought it was wheel bearings. Dealership found out it was ball joints. While not an expert, I do all my own work and maintenance that's not covered under warranty.

RE: Ram 3500 issue

My LB SRW 3500 does this in 4wd. It hops like crazy when I try to turn, don't notice it in 2wd. Don't know if it does in on pavement or not, never tried 4wd there. Taken it to the dealer a couple of times and they said it's normal. My SB never did it. Every truck I’ve had if the hubs are locked and it’s in 4 wheel drive the front tires will grab or hop on dry pavement . That’s normal . Never tried it on dry pavement, always on soft dirt and sand. I'm not blowing out something out.

RE: 2010 ram 3500 steering upgrade?

New stabilizer? I think there is a steering box upgrade as well that helps to strengthen the setup and tightens the steering up as well.

RE: Need advise from the Ram Owners

I test drove both of the engines before I bought. The 6.4 had more bells and whistles, but I knew what the Cummins could do coming from one. I wound up with the Cummins. About a week and a half ago, I regretted the decision since you do have to drive them like you stole them so the DPF doesn't clog up. Tech told me I needed to get it up to 70 at least once a week for about 20 miles to burn it off. I live 15 miles from my job, not going to happen. However, since I do love the engine, I have since corrected the problem. I probably watched 100 videos of both engines pulling trailers and made the decision that works best for me.

RE: Why do I keep blowing out tires on my truck?

Devo if you really want to get rid of that pOs RAM now is the time to do so. Friends just bought a 19 Laramie with 12k long bed with a Companion hitch in the bed and it's a certified RAM and gets the 5/100 changed to 7/100 drivetrain. They paid 70k for it and that was a decent deal. They traded in their Class C for a 34' Cougar and then needed a tow truck. Not the best time to buy either but that's the way it is!!! OH, I convinced them to sell the China Bomb tires on the RV and install a set of ENDURANCE 235/80R16E for an out the door price of $787. They didn't like the odds of being left along the freeway in AZ on a 110 day. That wasn't a bad deal at all, I traded in my 17 for a 20 3500 with 55k on it and paid about $59k out the door with an extended warranty. Don't know what dogs problem is, but my dealership is awesome and has taken care of me sometimes when they probably shouldn't have. Just bought my wife and Islander Unlimited there because of it and I hated her Challenger!

RE: Help Ram 2500 6.4 gas vs diesel

Just had the same dilemma. Was looking at a 2500 with the 6.4 and a 3500 with the 6.7. I was coming out of a 2500 with the 6.7. Both vehicles were 2020's. Even with the 8 speed in the 6.4, it still felt underpowered and slow. I wound up with the 3500 SRW. It has over 4300lbs of payload. Just keep looking. We pull a 38' TT and have no issues, didn't with the 2500 that I traded in either.

RE: 3/4 ton diesel vs. gas

Just went through this decision. I was looking at a 2020 6.4 and a 2020 Cummins. The gas had more bells and whistles than the diesel and rode really nice. Price was a little cheaper too, both are used vehicles. Did a lot of research about pulling our 10k trailer with something (four wheeler or golfcart) always in the bed. The diesel just made more sense. I've pulled with a Ford V10 and their 6.2. The V10 was a great engine, just thirsty. 6.2 even with 4.30's in it is way underpowered. The Cummins powered truck does have fewer bells and whistles, but runs good and pulls like a dream.

RE: F 250 vs Ram 2500

I said open the HOOD. YIPEE your oil filter has easier access, from below. I simply remove air intake and RnR my oil filter from above. Both of my fuel filters are easy to access. I have owned the 68 RFE and AISIN they are both USMade. Cummins US Made Power Stroke Made in Mexico Cummins doesn’t need 8 or 10 speeds. Think we have beat that subject to death. I just go in from the passenger side fender. I bought the plug for the top of the oil filter and I can have the old one off and the new one on in about 5 minutes. I don't see the big issue with it. Knocking on wood, my 68RFE has been pretty good so far, I do agree with Grit that it seems to shift a little soft. But at least I don't have to worry about lifting heads or if I get a little bit of water in my fuel and the engine blowing up.

RE: F 250 vs Ram 2500

The 2500 Ram has coils springs on the rear. Not the best for max loads. My coil springs are rated for 6500 lbs, WAY more than a 10,000 lbs class limited truck needs. Also I've noticed Fords have a saggy suspension with weight, something I haven't seen with the newer Rams. I respectfully disagree with your comment. Same here, no issues with mine at all and I have a heavy flatbed on mine and load either a golf cart or 4 wheeler with the trailer hitched. I did add air bags though.

RE: Nokian Rockproof tires?

Look at Milestar Patagonia's and Mastercraft too. Have the Mastercraft MXT's on my truck now and love them. Had the Milestar's on my old Tundra and had really good luck with them too.

RE: Tow Vehicle Liability Insurance

I've had the Gecko for the last 15 years and love them. The few claims that I've had were handled quickly. We have house, vehicle and RV through them, so the discount is nice. Being in Florida, they are the lowest around.

RE: WD hitch?

I've always done mine with the trailer loaded ready to camp. But, we don't pack too much stuff anyway.
