RE: Immigration crack down

The official Mexican identification card is the INE (Instituto Nacional Electoral) it used to be the IFE (Instituto Federal Electoral), it is as big as a credit card and every where you interact with a government department they ask for it, this document is also used for voting, it is basically a voter registration card, after you vote tne card is punched for the given election, after the number of elections or the card has expiered you go get a new one. navegator

RE: Immigration crack down

You need to separate the visa immigrants and the migrants that do not have a visa, so yes I can see if this is happening but I think that this is more of a mordida ploy, so lets take this with a grain of salt until there is more verifiable info, remember that there are two sides to every story. navegator

RE: Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

What to do with this discovery? Get 3 (2"X2") and 3 (12"X18"X1") plank and then round one end of the 2x2 as a 1/2 sphere cutting them to 20" long and attaching the plank to form a tee, using the three drawers and the boards as a table sit the 3 guests on the "T". The two legs of the guests and the T form a tripod and you have 3 more guests to dinner! navegator

RE: Using Resources-the many members who live here full time

Sr: silversand. I have not forgoten, I was going to meet with my friend on Friday but he spent 9 hours in the Naval hospital on a open heart surgery, will see him on Tuesday and grill him on this "law", from what I have been able to gather it was a presidential action and the congres went with it, it seems it is still under debate or something like that but the IMSS (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social) got the order to go ahead and institute this policy. The government is also contemplating this tipe of coverage for the migrants after a little one month old girl died from an infection, all because they where walking from town to town and afraid of the authorities, so now migrants who fall hill will be assisted. So visiting gringos and canucks you are all migrants!----- Right? Jocking aside, from what I understand the free medicine is only applied at the IMSS hospitals not at private clinics or hospitals to all Mexican citizens and resident foreighners who are 65 years and older. In any case I will have more information next week and report my findings. navegator

Señor silversand I have to ask my friend and cardiologist, who was the general director of the cardiology department at the hospital de la Raza until he retiered and now has his own clinic with an operating room, he directed me to the hospital, I would guess it is in the Diario Official de la Nacion, I need to ask him when this was implemented, I will see him some time next week and let you know. navegator

RE: Using Resources-the many members who live here full time

For those persons that are over 65 years, AMLO "Mexican President" (whom some of you do not like) passed a law that any one needing medical attention shall receive it at hospitals of the IMSS free of charge with a donation of blood from two persons, and yes foreigners who are residents in Mexico are eligible. At the end of June and beginning of July of this year I spent 10 days in the hospital of Atisapan, we were asked to donate blood unfortunately no one in my immediate family can donate nor can I, so the taxi driver and the dispatch lady gave blood, I in turn gave $2,000.00 PESOS to each one for volunteering, All of the lab studies and medicine have been free, now this only applies to persons 65 and older, tourist should have an insurance purchased in Mexico, if they do not have one then this applies. The care and attention that I received from the nurses and doctors was 110% better than what my wife received in the hospital in Chula Vista CA. The doctor's "because there were several not just one" that looked in on me twice a day and four times at night and guess what they listened to me and they spent more than 3:1/2 minutes checking me out and letting me know how I was coming along was far better than the 3 sonograms and two MRI scans that my wife had in Chula Vista for a gall bladder stone! I will not comment on the hospital food, edible yes as hospital food goes just keep in mind that it is Mexican food and not French cuisine, so we will leave it at that! So for all of you x-pats and visitors over 65 your health care just became easier, the attention and human compassion that the nurses and doctors have is a lot better than the robotic you are just a number of dollar$ for us that you receive in the U.S. So try not to get sick but if you need hospitalization, you now have some knowledge of what to do and where to get medical attention. Be safe out there! navegator

RE: Running lights on cars

That is why vehicles in Europe have what is known as middle loight, it is not the high beam nor the driving light but the dimmed driving light, they are turned on when the engine is running and the parking brake is released. They also have a bright red light on the left tail light assembly that turns on when the fog lights are switched on so that when driving in a fog the vehicle in back can see the red light and know there is a car or truck in front. Sun up and sun down are the most dangerous times on the road. This time of daylight is known to the truckers as zero hour, you can not see well with the lights on and you can not see with out them, it is better to wait until there is more light or it gets darker. navagator

A family member can drive the vehicle as long as the owner is present, that has not changed and getting caught means the unit will be confiscated, that is still the law. navegator

RE: Smog Test Mystery

one thing that does foul the smog test is the computer loosing the data due to the battery running low by the dashboard clock and computer it self loosing power, it takes about a half an hour of driving for the computer to re-acquire the parameters back for the test unit to prosses the data correct. I have to drive my "C" for half an hour and then go get is smoged or else it fails, the cat has to be really hot and at the correct temperature, another wise thing to do to older units is to do an oil change with filter and also change the air filter. I have a battery disconnect switch for the engine battery so I know that the computer losses all the data, so drive around a bit then go get the smog check done. navegator

The loss of sence of smell and taste is due to the covid 19 virus, my brother and the youngest son and wife had the virus, no smell or taste. Take care and do see your doctor, it is not a flu. navegator

RE: 6.9 Earthquake felt in Mexico City

Oficial count 7.1 and a 5.2 at 21:16 aftershock. Where I live the ground is the side of one of the 127 volcanos surrounding the City very hard rock, "Ciudad Satelite" so the quakes need to be above 6.5 to be felt, standing up I do not feel them sitting down yes because the chair moves. Hope every one is safe navegator

6.9 Earthquake felt in Mexico City

9/07/2021 at 20:47:47 a preliminary 6.9 quake was felt in the area of Acapulco. 14 kilometers South East from Acapulco and shallow and felt in Mexico City. I was preparing a late snack when heard noise behind me, "thought" what is the cat doing so turn around and see a door moving back and forth and some cooking utensils swaying, O.K. it is an earthquake and it was long! I hope no one is hurt, and to top it off it is raining, been raining all day on and off, and flooding in Ecatepec, if any of you felt it let me know here. navegator
