RE: New dog!

I've been away for some time as well, hope you've been riding/racing some, me not so much this year. I just did a quick Amazon search and found this: https://www.amazon.com/Cumbor-Durability-Doorways-2-75-Inch-8-25-Inch/dp/B07WFZSW72/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1KCR4C8SA3GVS&keywords=baby+gates+for+doorways&qid=1656543579&sprefix=baby+gate%2Caps%2C123&sr=8-6 Looks pretty adjustable

RE: Toy Hauler rear door

Look around you for an independent RV shop. A racing friend of mine does this stuff all the time. Replaces front/rear caps, etc. but he's in Indio, CA

RE: Need help . No shore power

Well I really appreciate all the help and today we finally discovered my problem . I’m no electrician by any means but we previously had the power cord spliced together with wire crimps and taped up . Well as we were pulling the tape off to check the crimps the wires pulled right out . We went and but some heavy duty crimps that require a screwdriver and re spliced and everything works perfect ! are you referring to "butt connectors" if so those are LOW VOLTAGE ONLY. Suggest replacing the power cord, or cutting and adding a male/female plug, then use the one piece as an extension cord.

RE: Is Desert Riding Season here yet?

Heading to Teagle Wash this weekend, son's birthday, camping on pipeline. Viewfinders flag will be flying. Checker's race at Charlies Place Saturday but we're not racing. It should be perfect out there this weekend. Have fun. We're putting together a couple trips a few weeks from now. I think we'll be out there the weekends before and after Veterans Day. Instead of going back and forth, I'll probably just stay out there for the week and work remotely from the trailer. I'll probably head close to the hills overlooking Ridgecrest (right across from Wagon Wheel) to get a good data connection on the hotspot. Funny, I was just in that exact spot Friday afternoon for the same reason. I was trying to transfer Stones tickets. Finally had to drive into Ridgecrest and hook up at the hospital wifi to make it happen, what a PTIA. Gorgeous weather though, great weekend.

RE: Is Desert Riding Season here yet?

Our big event is this weekend in Ridgecrest. Was out last weekend setting up, heading back out tomorrow through Monday for the event. We anticipate 2,000 racers in two days. Come on out to Desert Empire Fairgrounds this weekend and witness the last of the classic Grand Prix. No other club puts on a race on a temporary circuit like we do. Our event more or less kicks off the second half of the desert racing season. Never made it to a rally.

RE: Voltage Dump Valve Replacement

Interesting in that I have electric dump valves and would prefer manual valves. I belong to a forum where all the trailers have electric valves and some have switched to manual. I hope they have improved their reliability since mine were installed. Funny, was just thinking how I'd like electric too. The cables were routed poorly on mine (imagine that) and are hard to pull/push, just waiting for the day one fails. Speaking of that need to do some PM on these.

washer/drier in a 35' is a tall order as well.

RE: Voltage Dump Valve Replacement

black valves are all 4". I THINK the grey is 2". If you OD of ABS is about 1/4" more than "nominal" size (ie 4" ABS is 4 1/4" OD).

RE: Placement of motorcycle for towing

we had a 30' fiver with open floor plan like the link posted. I hauled our Gold Wing in it once, I put it a bit back from center over the axles, towed it about 800 miles once and never felt any difference, but then again it was sitting right over our single 150 gallon water tank, which is 1250lbs.

RE: Favorite Brand of 5th Wheel Toyhauler.

From experience related to all of our trailers, all I can say is that it helps to be able to do your own maintenance and repairs. All of our trailers have had one issue or another when we owned them. We've experienced a couple minor issues with our Momentum where some interior trim fell off. Truer words were never spoken. My DW makes that comment frequently when I'm fixing or modifying something. "how can anyone own an RV that is not reasonably handy?" We have some friends that are dying to get an RV but he has ten thumbs (plays the guitar like a madman though) and I cannot imagine him owning one.

RE: Favorite Brand of 5th Wheel Toyhauler.

Just curious why the jacks should be in the highest position? I would think lower would be more stable since there would be less of the leg extended. As long as there is enough clearance so they don't drag. I've never had the auto-level before so I don't know. both are correct. My new fifth wheel had the jacks so low I could not back into my standard residential driveway without the rears contacting the approach, they were only about 4" above the ground, would never work when taking the trailer offroad. Easy solution is to raise them up to max height, then carry some blocks, either the lego type or make some out of wood. Since we boondock in the desert a lot I have various forms of blocks and plywood squares so stuff is stable and doesn't sink into the dirt/sand.

RE: CA is canceling Red Stickers for 2022

{SNIP} F'g. Trolls You're not in CA so you have no dog in this fight. Stick to the PNW, you have no idea what you're talking about. Very difficult to have an intelligent conversation with ignorant people. Dave, you can delete this if it's inappropriate but so sick of this kind of garbage after all the time I've put into supporting our sport. ___________ EDIT: It's all good. His post is gone now.

RE: CA is canceling Red Stickers for 2022

This is all thanks to the AQMD. They did a study on OHV emissions based on totally bogus useage data; most OHV's are operated only hours each month. Would be surprised if the average use is more than 5 hours per month on an annualized basis yet they used some BS number 4-5x that amount to justify their draconian ****. AQMD is an independent department that does not answer to anyone, they can and do exactly what they want with no regard to economic impact, recreational use, etc. Do you have a link to that study? The air quality regulations cover evaporative emissions as well as tailpipe emissions, which unless everyone drains the fuel from their bikes between uses, that's still a factor whether it's being ridden or not. But I'd like to see the study that used inflated usage data. A non-compliant 2 stroke can emit up to 50 times more hydrocarbon pollution than emissions compliant 4 stroke engines, even modern fuel injected 2 strokes emit 10 times more hydrocarbons. So even if they only run 5 hours a month, they still emit much more pollution than compliant bikes. Anyone that's camped next to someone with a cheap 2-stroke generator knows how much worse the exhaust is from 2 stroke engines. What is the main drawback to buying a compliant bike? Cost or performance? Don Amador is the front line on this: https://quietwarriorracing.blogspot.com/2021/06/r5-regional-forester-appointed-as-new.html?fbclid=IwAR0YoDw2h4s_ZZ80-LB8OVmOX3qEK1itvX6EgfN9YFm_Aguou5KOt33CpKM Another that was involved in the study itself: Chris Real https://www.facebook.com/chris.real.16 I'm not going to get into it with you. You obviously have a different agenda and we're not going down that rabbit hole. I've been involved in AMA District 37 desert racing for 50+ years and in some very active capacities at various levels of the sport. You are free to do as much research as you wish. Until REAL useage numbers are used it's "convenient statistics". Data can be manipulated in so many ways but if inaccurate statistics are used the data interpretation is useless. And if you have to ask what the difference is between two and four strokes but to compare to a portable generator then I'm done.

RE: CA is canceling Red Stickers for 2022

You need people who will change the laws. It’s getting hard for bikers and campers in California. Mod Edit: Just trying to keep the politics in check Trust me we have a lot of lobbiests and activists that are well connected in Sac. but the liberals are hard to cross the aisle. and with a super majority its worse. Fortunately we do have allies here and there. As of 2022 model year ALL OHV's must meet emission requirements except "closed course" race bikes. There is a bill in Sac. to exempt "race vehicles" for competition and "practice". The use of these machines in non-sanctioned events is only allowed for "practice". To prove you are "practicing" or "testing" you have to hold a valid competition license in any recognized organization. For example AMA District 37, SCORE, DP4. This bill is moving slowly in Sac. Current green stickers expire next June so this must be in place by then. Unfortunately BLM, a federal agency, is the one that checks the stickers (CA requirement) which makes no sense either. My son managed to score a 2021 Husky 300 so he'll be good. Just had a friend get a 2022 KTM 300 (these are both non EPA complying two strokes). Will be interesting to see what kind of sticker they issue to the 2022. RE: Can I safely tow a Fuel 362 with 2020 2500HD 6.6

you're reciting numbers from their website. You need to look at the actual capacities of the truck you have. It should be in the glove box on on the door jamb
