RE: Retirement and health care

In my experience - no; Income never entered into the equation. Medicaid or welfare could be an option but I wouldn’t know about those things.

RE: 2012rvlife.com

I would suggest checking the ILVTTS

RE: Can I get on my roof?

Brochure says fully walkabout roof. But you might take a 4x4 sheet of plywood to help distribute your weight if you're uneasy about it.That sounds like an accident waiting to happen; I’d rather take my chances of going through the roof.

RE: Vinegar Treatment

We spent 12 months in an area with slightly hard water, and it seems like there’s a bit of gunk in all of our faucets and hot water tank. I’m curious to hear from folks who do vinegar treatments- in particular if there’s tricks to clean the hot water tank and quantities and times. I can imagine a couple of tricks to hit the water heater well, and then maybe rerun stuff through the cold side. Beer discussion always welcome.Clicky

RE: The Sewer Valve

Just curious, did you ask them how big their hose is and did you measure how big the down pipe hole is in your toilet? I know my toilet valve does not lead to a very big opening.

RE: Facebook RV Scams

To answer the question you asked - the only thing I can see is maybe they will monitor your posts and if you happen to post when your out of town or post that your leaving for vacation, they now have your address to potentially separate you from some of your stuff. Just a guess on my part. As a side note for the reading challenged - the OP’s question had nothing to do with purchasing a rv or the price.

RE: Thinking about the next Tow Vehicle

Nick I had two 3500 lb tandems, plus hitch wight to work with. Lightest I wieghed was 5300 total. A semi quick overnight. MartyYou didn’t answer my question. But the better question is - Do you recommend the OP load up his 25 foot trailer with 1400 lbs of stuff and head out on the highway? But in reality that’s just a hypothetical question also. The real question is “OP, what is the GVWR of “your” trailer.” That’s the real info needed for any realistic advice. Baffles me why in 4 pages no one bothered to ask that question- instead of speculating about what that trailer should weigh out on the road.

RE: Thinking about the next Tow Vehicle

What was the GVWR of that 4500 lbs trailer you had loaded to 6700 - 7300 lbs Wizard - does the bridge you have for sale have a GVWR that you can just ignore because the bridge weighed more then the manufacturer advertised?

RE: Thinking about the next Tow Vehicle

5100lbs dry? That can easily push 6500lbs loaded. That will exceed the tow limits of most mid size SUVs. You’d be easily within the range of any half ton with a turbo V6 or V8. A tuck will have a longer wheelbase than an SUV and be more stable. Since you specifically mention a Tundra and buying used I would recommend checking it out. They are reliable and will hold value over the long run. The drivetrain is bulletproof. It is geared for towing and won’t even notice that weight except for in MPGs, it is thirsty. The Taco is a little undersized for what you want to tow.1400 lbs in a 25 foot trailer - WOW!

RE: Sequential use of small water jugs with pump

Not a problem, you just need 2020 era Programmable Logic Controllers, with a level sensor and electric operated ball valves for each jug; and a supply of plastic tubing. "Relays" you really are dating yourself.

RE: New Travel Trailer

I don't know how anyone here could comment on the price, no one knows anything about the trailer. Would you pay $45K for any Forest River trailer? I wouldn't.Well I'm not in the market for a TT so I wouldn't know what I'd be willing to pay. But a 29-foot Coachmen Catalina (a Forest River Product) has a MSRP of $65,000 so $45,000 might be a great deal. Clicky But once again, we know nothing about the trailer the OP is talking about, so I just don't feel I can speculate about the price. It might be a high end luxury model or a POS - who can say?

RE: New Travel Trailer

I pull a 7600 lbs trailer with a 1/2 ton - many thousands of miles, No problems at all. I don't know how anyone here could comment on the price, no one knows anything about the trailer.

RE: Looking for 5 star RV Park

All you have to do is find some investor that is willing to spend the money to put in all the improvements you “require”, that is also willing to not recoup their costs. Bingo - problem solved. Sounds like a person on a Kobe steak diet with a hamburger budget.

RE: Slide trouble

the answer to your question is yes, there is very likely a manual override. However, what you have to do to manually get the slide in is entirely dependant on what kind of slide mechanism you have; there are several different types. Without more specific information about what type of slide it is, it's impossible to help further. Pictures of the slide mechanism could help.
