RE: Salt Lake City to Spokane Wa.

Of course those of us here in Eastern WA have to point out that the worst part of the entire route is negotiating 395 through Kennewick/Pasco. Just remember: whatever lane you are in, it will very soon be the wrong one!

RE: 93 North out of Vegas

After the first couple of miles north of I-15 it's 2 lane most all the way to Twin Falls. Not to worry, though. There are numerous passing lanes, and the visibility is so far that the speedies can just zoom right by you. That and that traffic is very light. All the grades along that route are gentle. Take Nevada 318 between Ash Springs and Ely to save 40 miles. The final hill into Ely is not difficult.

RE: Salt Lake City to Spokane Wa.

I-15 to Butte, than I-90 into SpokaneThis is the easiest route.

RE: ANTS

Raid. Redose if necessary. Then move on with life. Ants are part and parcel of life.

RE: Highway 93 Nevada suggestions.

Someone else on another thread recently suggested Angel Lake BLM campground just south of Wells. Looks a bit off the road. I've stopped at Pahranagat Refuge also -- $10 a night there as I recall. Great spot.

RE: Bypass Salt Lake City Utah

Thanks for all your help can you give a guesstimate on how much longer you’re rude would takeAccording to Google maps it is 160 miles longer. 3+ hours.

RE: Bypass Salt Lake City Utah

No. Just try for a less busy time (good luck with that!). Or, if time is of no concern, US50 to Ely, US93 to Twin, and I84 to Declo. Nice roads, very quiet, but longer.

RE: Membership "card"?

My DW however simply uses a lamentation machine to preserve the documents and puts them in her wallet. You must be a happy man, then, for as Conan famously said, success is to "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women!"

RE: Alfa See Ya

Can't speak for the OP, but I do recall having a used Alfa pitched quite aggressively by a salesman in Arizona. This after the delamination issues had become well known. But it was all about "the high ceilings and lovely interior finishes" to try to unload a pig-in-a-poke rig. A buyer who does not have the wherewithal to do his own research is easily influenced in the process of being an RV.

RE: State route 20 near Panguitch Utah - 89 to the 15.

A year or so back the road surface was just fine. No speed records on the climb up, but we take the speed it gives us! Easier driving that, IMHO, than the blooming' I-15!

RE: Rockford Il to Rochester, Mn

When I lived in that part of the country (just after the Civil War, I think!) all the roads, State, County, and Fed, were well maintained and with good surfaces. Since there is no interstate in that area, I expect they are still in good repair, as locals have to get about. Galena, Prairie du Chien, Platteville, Dubuque, Decorah -- all still thriving. Lots of small towns, too -- but who's in a hurry? No fuel shortages either -- see paragraph 1 above. And, you can get cheese curds.

RE: Texas Sprinter Repair

That's interesting. When I got the Doom Message "you have 10 starts left" while driving in Texas, searching suggested the nearest Sprinter dealer was M-B in Boerne. I drove there, arrived at 4pm with no appointment, and they were very good. Got me right in, replaced the NOx sensors and fixed the doom message. Service manager claimed they had a couple of "really good Sprinter techs". I couldn't agree more. That was in 2019. So what happened now -- they don't like Sprinters any more?

RE: Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, Alberta

Every one is different, but that would be plenty of time for us. Be sure to take a slow drive on 1A between Banff and Lake Louise and you just might see these grazing beside the road! Great shot of that big boy there!

RE: Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, Alberta

For us, Banff is the least interesting of the locations you list. Jasper is the most! The campgrounds there are heavily used, and show a lot of wear and tear, but that's just what it is. Wapiti CG in Jasper is okay. Look at the CGs in Mt Robson Provincial Park, too.

RE: Changed to Dish

Been with Dish for 23 years -- never once had it shut itself down to update while I was watching something. It is true that once in a great while the whole mess goes bonkers, solved by a complete reset - - i.e., unplug for a minute then wait 5 minutes for a re-acquisition. Perhaps once every 2 years. Never had a weather outage, either, contrary to what the cable companies claim. Now, whether there is any content worth watching these days..... that is a whole other issue!

RE: Winter on Highway 93 South - Twin Falls, ID to Wells, NV

As long as it is not snowing, that route is fine. We drive it most every year. However, in a nice blowing snowfall a few years back it was as scary a drive as you could ask -- and this is from an ex-Canadian used to lots of snow! Check the weather! And when you get to Wells, eat at Bella's. (The diner, not the brothel.) Great road food. (Can't speak for the other establishment.)

RE: AZ hwy 88

Generally not advised, though I've certainly seen them on there. Not sure if it is even open all the way eastbound yet -- somebody from there will be along soon to advise.

RE: Fuel mileage

A few years back we spent most of a couple of years on the road in a DP. Fuel prices rose to over $5 a gallon. On one occasion I put in $400 worth, and I think I maxed at $500 Canadian once! But in the total picture of the costs of RV'ing it seemed manageable. I'd say if you can afford the rig you like, don't obsess about what might or might not happen in the future. Just do it!

RE: Apache Junction, AZ to El Paso, TX

Do yourself a favor: Take the Globe/US70 route. US70 is a good surfaced 2 lane road. Saves all the messing around in Tucson.

RE: Dump Station Etiquette???

Most folks in line don't natter, so long as you keep moving ahead with the job. Standing around looking at your navel will irritate the next guy.
