RE: Major suspension/steering upgrade

My 32 ft class C e450 goes Dow the road like it is glued to it. But not when new, pretty much immediately after bringing it home I replaced original factory sway bars with Hellwig sway bars front and rear, bilsteins shocks , Safety Plus Steering control, and Sumos to replace factory bump stops and then realignment, I can drive it with one hand and no stress. Try those mods. I am 68 and did all the work myself except alignment

RE: Handling/steering.

I have a 31 ft class c and tow a toad, after purchasing it I added Hellwig heavy duty sway bars and got rid of those cheap factory sway bars then add a Safe T Plus Steering control and Bilstein Shocks. HUGE improvement. Just for fun added Sumo Springs to all four corners. Now I can drive it with one had and wind barely moves me. My coach is basically nail to the road.

RE: TV recommendations for outdoor TV entertainment center

Sorry folks I’m looking for a brand name that will withstand the vibrations of road travel, one person at an RV dealership told me that Jensen, Furrion and TCL are built to those standards.

TV recommendations for outdoor TV entertainment center

My outdoor TV is an LCD 32 inch, the picture is just messed up, the Satellite installers tell me it because these TVs can’t handle the the temperatures and humidity and it messes up the electronics. Does anyone have any recommendations.

RE: Satellite TV SET UP

You're doing all the stuff I would do. The splitter may be bad, the receiver non-hdmi output could be bad; lots to look at. Running down bad coax in an RV is not fun...they literally build the RV around the installation. If it was me, I'd look at the reviews for wireless HDMI (on this thread and places like the WireCutter) and test one. Don't believe any review from Amazon. Leave the coax as is. Just my .02. Yea I agree, I bought a new splitter today and will test it tomorrow, I’ll give update in a few days

RE: Satellite TV SET UP

A little bit more information, my satellite it is mounted on the roof it’s a dumb style, and then the wiring runs to the roof down the wall to the receiver and then using coaxial Cable goes to the splitter box I have turned off the booster button and then the TVs are all connected with the factory cable that runs through the coach to the TVs. When using the satellite hooked up that way the pictures on all three TVs have a snowy picture. If I run directly from the satellite receiver to the TV in the front with a 10 foot HDMI cable to an HDMI port on my TV the picture is crystal clear so from the dome on the roof to the satellite receiver that must work because it does send a signal to the TV that is crystal clear if I use the HDMI cable so my thoughts are from the receiver going through the splitter that’s where the problem lies. My thoughts are to replace the splitter. All connections are tight but yes there could be a bad connection but the problem goes to all three TVs and I’m thinking it could be a bad splitter so I’m going to try that today. Although I did have a satellite installer recommend going to a wireless HDMI system to all three TVs and they do make wireless systems to handle up to four TVs according to him. But I’ll try Replacing the splitter today and see what I get.

RE: Sumo Springs

UPDATE, well I installed Sumo springs to the rear as well and then took coach in to get alignment checked and it did change much. Technician made the slight adjustment and I’m good to go. I’ll have to say that the addition of the Sumo springs was well worth it. Coach runs down the interstate solid as a rock, of course I’ve installed hellwig sway bars front and rear and Bilsteins and the Safety Plus Steering control. Other than adding a Trac Bar I think there isn’t much more to do because it handles so great now.

Satellite TV SET UP

Has anyone used wireless HDMI for their satellite TV? My reception when using satellite on all TVs is snowy but on over there air antenna reception and picture is crystal clear. My Antenna booster is turned off when using satellite. I have dish network or dish on the go. It was recommended to me by gentleman that installed satellites That it will be much easier to use the wireless HDMI system instead of trying to run HDMI cables through the coach walls. If I run an HDMI cable directly from the satellite receiver to a TV it is crystal clear picture. Not sure what is causing this problem but it may be cheaper to use the wireless HDMI system then paying labor rate to try to diagnose it. Give me your thoughts about this and if you’ve had any experience with the wireless HDMI’s in your coaches

RE: Sumo Springs

Yea, that’s my next move, get the alignment checked. I just love how sumo doesn’t mention that it’s going to raise the front of coach.

RE: Towing PT cruiser

I have a 2007 PT Cruiser with manual transmission and pull it 4 down everywhere with no problems. I just put it in neutral and turn key to first click which just unlocks steering wheel and only illuminates the odometer. If I turn the key to the second click then all the dash lights come on , that’s what’s nice about the PT is that you can tow all day but not run down battery.

Sumo Springs

Just installed Sumo Springs on the front of our 2015 E450 Class C Thor Chateau 31W. It seems to done what I was hoping for, although it did raise it by about an inch and a half, our coach also has Helwig anti sway bars front and rear plus Bilstein shocks and Safety plus Steering control. What I am wondering is if I add Sumos to the rear according to Sumo Tech support it will raise the rear also just a little which I don’t have a problem with but for those who have done this does your coach seem to ride stiffer in the rear after adding the sumos to the rear.

RE: Hellwig or Roadmaster

I installed Helwig front and rear on my E450 Class C 32 ft and they are just what I needed. I researched both brands and decided on Helwig over Roadmaster simply because Hellwig is 100% bolt on but Roadmaster required some drilling in frame to mount rear sway bar but I think both are fairly the same quality.

RE: Electrical plug

Got a reply from Thor and they say it has to be part of the chassis wiring harness so I’m going to take it to a ford dealership, I also went to an RV dealership this morning and looked under dash of othe Class C E 450 and tucked under was the same plug so it has to be part of the chassis wiring

Sorry, don’t know how to post a picture here

RE: Electrical plug

Nope not a brake controller and it doesn’t look like the one I the link you provided. Thor says its probably for an external navigation system but not sure.

RE: Electrical plug

Well it looks like a 4 pin and it does have backup cameras but that works on the radio screen and it’s definitely not an OBD Connecter.
okiejoe 03/07/19 02:22pm Class C Motorhomes
Electrical plug

I have a 2015 E450 Class C Chateau that has a plug sticking out of the dash between the bottom of the dash and engine cover right below the radio. Does anyone have one or know what it is? I’m the second owner and original owner didn’t know what it was either. They only had it about 3 years and barely used it and knew very little about anything about the coach. So no help there. Manufacturer says they think it’s for plugging in an external navigation system. Any idea Since?
