RE: When I'm driving do I run my fridge on propane or electric?

for all of you who have traveled for years and never had a problem I say two words,"NOT YET". One fire we had that involved a motor home and a UPS truck and the station and a 5000 gallon propane tank, he said I turn off my propane so I thought I was safe, turn out after questioning him and seeing the location of the fridge in relation to the gas filler, the propane was off but the fridge was still on. so it was trying to light and one spark lite the gas fumes up and the rest is history. Oh yes, the 5000 gallon propane tank was a propane filling station and our second truck in hit a hydrant and used the mounted steamer nozzle to keep the tank cool. other wise we would probably be replacing half the town not just a gas station. being that close to a large propane tank is just plain scary as all get out and I'm glad I'm not fighting fire any more

RE: Is it OK to mix battery types??

no any battery person will tell you to use same age and same type batteries on any thing. My brother was a battery store owner and he told me that. I trust what he told me. even if you look up rv education 101 or Dr rv they will tell you the same thing

RE: Water heater problem

you might try cleaning the electrical terminals before replacing parts. a lot of the time they make poor contact and the heater will not work

RE: Should I connect my sewer line when camping?

another good reason is it's is just one step you don't have to do when you already have a long list of things that more important to do when setting up camp

RE: When I'm driving do I run my fridge on propane or electric?

I fought fires for 30 years and some of those fires were rv's that traveled with the frig on propane. and after saying so on this forum got a lot of static from the members that I didn't know what I was talking about. well, there is a gas station in this town that was rebuilt because of a frig propane fire mishap. and many rv frames sitting int he wrecking yards of propane fire mishaps. I point out that the RV Dr and mark at rv education 101 feel the same way I do and in their videos state not to travel with propane on to the fridge. I travel with small ice packs in the fridge to help keep the frig cold. when I park at night or reach my destination the ice packs go into the freezer to refreeze. I feel safer this way then pushing my luck with a fire going down the road or buying fuel in a gas station with an open flame in the back of the fridge. but it's your rv . you can push your own luck or travel safely.

RE: Electric Bikes???

I've read all the posts and only one thing I can add. I watched a video on You Tube about a couple who who buying E bikes and one thing he said that made sense to me was if you are getting to the old age bracket like he was, You might want to look at getting a the frame known as a girls bike since you may have trouble getting your leg over the seat to mount the bike. it is easier to put your leg through the bike frame then over the seat. just my 2 cents here

RE: Brakes Stopped Working after CW Visit.

if they put on a new break away switch they may have screwed up the wiring job and or connections. or the break away switch is faulty

RE: Well, They gone and done it

one of the perks of being bald. only takes a minute or two to comb my hair with the razor. I've quit going to barber shops, I tell them it upsets me that they are done cutting my hair before I'm done talking

RE: RV gasoline life span in long term storage

when I worked for big box store they always said 30 and it starts going bad. that is why in the spring they sell a ton of lawn mower carburetors

I read here some years ago that you should only do laundry while in the CG not while driving down the road. no explanation for this and it has bugged me for years. anyone have an answer for me?

RE: Water pressure problem

I wish I knew the answer or how to correct this problem. I have the same problem and yes I have cleaned the screens and have replaced the screens and cleaned out the washers in the valves. nothing has worked. the answers you got above are just the tip of the iceberg, just the start of going mad trying to figure this out. I'm beginning to think it is an engineering design

RE: Well didn't know it was Tumbleweed Season

you guys have no idea how much of a problem tumbleweeds are. my Dad called them russian thistles. they dry out and the first wind that comes along sends them flying across the fields. I have seen them bury a house after a wind storm. they are a terrible fire hazard. they burn fast and hot. they are a pain in the you know what.

RE: Advice on selling my 5th wheel

just make sure of what % they want to sell your rig. a friend of mine wanted x amount for his and the company priced it out at twice the amount. and it wasn't worth it so it sat on the lot for a long time before he took it home and sold it himself

RE: Morrow County Oregon Parks Advice Please

I stayed at both of the parks you mentioned. I like cutsforth better. both have small fishing ponds. cutsforth only has a few spots that can handle your larger 5th wheel.. it is tight getting around in both CG's with larger TT's. they will not take reservations for next year until after the 1st of Jan 20

RE: Ladder Rack Accessories..

one thing to remember when you stick something on the back bumper and the ladder is that you upset the handling of the TT you are towing. it will make the tongue weight lighter. also the back bumper is so thin and light weight it can hardly handle a sewer hose let alone a generator

RE: Slideouts Stalling

mine does the same thing and I had the battery checked and they say it is good to go. I even had it plugged into shore power. never did find out what was wrong with it

RE: water heater

suburbans are notorious for doing that. my tech came to my house for that reason and he wiggled a wire and the unit took right off. it was a connection thing

why only one page of posts?

over the past few years, I have noticed that only one page of posts under the newest icon are visible . are that many people getting away from this forum or is this a thing with the admin?
