RE: What is considered a house trailer?

Not saying this is right or wrong... when our county started taxing in our RV park. The county decided their deciding line was any structure with sliding glass door were "attched" to the lot and taxed the lot with a structure on the property.

RE: What Brand Is The Longest Lived Serpentine Drive Belt?

B4 retirement. Large trucking outfit I worked for had great results with gates "green stripe". Not other gates. But "green stripe". Also if you carry spare, see if you have option of "with a/c" or "without a/c". If you do, carry without a/c as spare. Reason is if a/c compressor ever freezes up you wont be stranded.

RE: Winter weather without winterizing?

If it makes you feel better winterize it. Better safe than sorry and you'll feel better. Years ago I lost the toilet valve and temps weren't that cold, temps just below freezing but for a couple days, not hours like weather we're seeing now. I worry more about floor covering cracking than pipes.

RE: Winter weather without winterizing?

OP said..."We only get temps in the 20's for a couple weeks in November or December and then again in February time frame. Outside of that, we only see mid to upper 30's as a low. I really don't want to run the HVAC since it burns a lot of propane and puts hours on the furnace for no real reason though it would keep things from freezing." If your zip code is 98101 below your screen name, what you did is what I do also. Matter of fact nothing is on in ours right now and never had a problem. Only going to be below freezing for couple of hours. But cold snaps which not unusual sometimes in Dec and Jan. Then I open up low points to drain water and blow out entire system with air. I'm close, several zip codes away.

RE: Is Yuma safe

Does being robbed by mechanic count?:) Other than that, safer than most places.

RE: Vacuuming out the water lines

No, not bright idea imo. What if you wanted or had to sanitize on the road. Extra space taken up with wet vac you would have to carry. Better off installing low point drains if you dont have any. How powerful??? My 3 1/2 horsepower wet dry I can suck out radiator in car. About 3 PVC fittings reduced down to 3/8 vinyl hose. I have to remove my paper filter on mine.

RE: We have lost a Great Friend of this Forum

So sorry to hear. I think JD enjoyed helping people very, very much. Going thru my private messages JD was involved in just about every major upgrade or breakdowns we've had. From brakes to a supplemental fuel pump. He will be missed.

RE: Time for tires so Maxxis or Goodyear Endurance?

Randomly call couple or three tire places and ask for maxxis, then call and ask for endurance. For me...getting endurance was faster. Just in case you have to replace tire away from home. My local discount tire as of couple months ago...37 installed, 1 bring back.

RE: Encore/Thousand Trails RV Parks

And lease lot out for a year at a time. So when you get a lousy site you have to drive by all sites leased out with nobody on them. By the way dont forget to upgrade.

RE: Looking for a DP with a back window.

Copy and paste'd from rule book. My copy from 2008, might of been changes in the one or two newer additions, so double check. Appears to me rear window on motor homes are legal if they comply with below. (I know for sure the OEM's got water pressure spec's changed (lowered) in newer additions, so for sure double check). So a lot depends of date of manufacture to what rules they play by. Vents or windows that can be opened for ventilation shall not be installed in the rear wall of motor home and truck campers. Normally unopenable alternate exit windows shall be permitted in rear walls. Rear entry doors with fixed windows shall be permitted in truck campers. Rear entry doors with fixed windows shall be permitted in motor homes, provided that no combustion exhausts discharge from the rear of the vehicle.

RE: radiator

Imo...13 year old coolant... I'd be doing more than drain and refill. I'd be doing at complete back flush. For the fun of it, pick up a ph strip and see how corrosive your coolant is now.

Buying medical insurance over the phone

I bet I've blocked atleast 25 phone calls about signing up for medical. Anybody buy there medical from a random phone dailer? If so forward your credit card info in PM to me. I'd like to experiance how good of health insurance it must be. They must find guppies somewhere or they wouldn't keep calling. P.s. I'll safegaurd your credit card info, I promise.

RE: Power Gear Slide Maintenance

My thoughts exactly on grease. BUT being mine are exposed to, dirt mostly I use spray out of can "dry lube with ptfe" from big box store. And spray the gears more often than what I would have if I used grease. So basically pick your medicine. Spray often or build up of grease. I used that spray lube till can was gone. Then picked up stuff at big box store. Just my take on those exposed metal gears. I also spray my screen down stabilizer Jack's with same stuff.

Suburban model sf 30 versus model sf35

Couple days ago some good info was posted on model SF30. Anybody know if SF35 is the same inside. IE sail switch and high limiter switch and instructions to get inside heater the same way? Posting I'm referring to is https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29767033.cfm

RE: sail switch in Suburban furnace

I'm assuming that the great info above also applies to model sf35? (My sf35 doesn't want to start. So far I've just confirmed t stat is ok. Mine is in such a tight spot I need couple extra elbows in each arm to work on it. Hopefully same layout as sf30)
