RE: House battery/Propane

Thank you all for such quick response! I thought that the house batteries would charge while driving but wanted a confirmation on that. As for the propane, great info. Thanks again Paul

House battery/Propane

Quick questions from a Newbie. How do the house batteries charge and where does one get a propane fill in the USA. They don't seem to be as obvious as in Canada. Thanks

Travel to the USA

First time taking the MH to the USA from Canada. Upper NY State and Pennsylvania. What kind of foods can or can't be brought over. Do the border "guys" do a walk through or fridge check? Just curious. Thanks Paul

30 & 50 amp

New to RVing. On the subject of 30 & 50 amp... are they designed for specific size units??? EG...24ft versus 34 or A class units?? Can a 30 amp only be used in a 30 and a 50 in a 50? Trying to learn sooner than later. Thanks Paul

RE: Winter driving

Thank you everyone for your replies. Apparently it can be done and have fun while at it. MH/RV's are obviously "good" weather experiences but as everyone has pointed out some thought must first be put into the pro's and con's on what winter challenges can arise. We have tried it once earlier in the season with success but the winds, snow and ice have put a halt further adventures. Again, thanks for everyones expertise and experiences. Paul

RE: Winter driving

You can have either/or. For 30 amp it's best to reserve a spot. Road is plowed, sites are cleaned out. We've done it in very late fall, early winter so the roads were good. We'll see how the weekend shapes up, if we go or not. Thanks for the reply! Paul

Winter driving

I have a 24ft C class 4 Winds. Was thinking of taking it out for "winter camping" in a Provincial park that's maintained for just such opportunity's. Was wondering how the rig would handle on winter roads. Obviously not driving in a snow storm but the roads may have a covering. I'm located in Southern Ontario. Thanks Paul

RE: Batteries, Engine and Generator during the winter months

Any body have any problem with mice nesting in the exhaust pipe or generator pipe over winter?? Or am I trying to be to cautious?? Thanks Paul

RE: Forest River Forester vs Thor Four Winds

Bought a Thor 22b a couple off months ago. Love it. All 24 footers are basically the same layout. You won't get everything you want in one model so there will be compromise. Basically, "Not what I can live with But what I can live in". You've decided on one of two models. Half the battle done. It now comes down to Dealer support and maintenance. Good dealer, good mechanic. Always horror story's about RV's. They are like anything you purchase, car, home, bicycles, etc. If you don't maintain them they become expensive boat anchors. Make your purchase and enjoy. Life is to short to dwell on what might happen. Paul ... New Rv owner
