RE: Buying 2019 RAM 3500 DRW - discount expectations?

You should be able to negotiate at least 20% off a 2019 at this point. Remember, that in most states if you own it at the first of the year, you must pay prop tax on it. If you buy it on Jan 2 -- at least in Missouri - you don't pay prop tax on it for that year.

RE: cell phone in Mexico

We have ATT unlimited and have used it in both Canada and Mexico with no surprises. Unlimited call, text, and data.

RE: Help and Advice on a badly placed 5th wheel

A pair of good quality car dollies under the jacks on a piece of 3/4 plywood might work. I’d prob then use a come along to pivot it around where it is accessible.

RE: About painting a 5th wheel

Friend had his MH painted. About 5K. Much cheaper than trading, though.

RE: Leaving the RV World for a while

We sold our RV when the kids were too involved in school stuff to want to camp. Then, when they were 13 and 16, we threw a couple of dome tents in the van and took off on a 5,000 mile trip that they will never forget.

RE: Stuck along a fence

Re: Pulling sideways Not something I would relish. My understanding was that it was unable to be moved without damage. Pulling it a few inches sideways would likely cause no damage. I’ll admit it would make me cringe, but so does a root canal.

RE: Stuck along a fence

Pretty sure a tow company would just runs line through the wheels and drag it sideways enough to get it out.

RE: pulling fifth wheel with f250 supercab 6.2L engine

You will be fine. Diesel trucks are great but overkill with that fiver. Avoid the G rated tires, since they may induce a very rough ride on a unit that small.

RE: Let's talk generators - again.

Need to connect you with a guy I met recently. Removing his Onan due to weight and LP consumption. Sounds like you are aware of the issues going in to the very pricey purchase.

RE: Fifth Wheel Height

I haven't been able to get a good measurement on mine, since my head is buried in the sand.

There is also a movement to mark and recognize the old Jefferson Highway "Pine to Palm," which goes from Winnepeg to New Orleans. You probably know that 66 is marked in many places in Missouri. I hope that you are able to make your journey, and that you will report back on this forum. We are always interested in a new adventure, since it's all about the journey, not the destination.

RE: Rough Ride

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm going to play with air pressure a bit, and see if I can mitigate some of the issues. Selling/replacing the tires is not a realistic option, since I don't want to throw $700-800 bucks away.

RE: Rough Ride

I agree that the E rated tires would ride better. I was just tired of babying my tires and I actually did have a blowout with the original E tires, although they were past their "use by" date. Everyone seemed to recommend the Sailuns, and I do like having a tough tire, but they may be too tough. I may try running at lower pressure, since they do provide a chart for pressure/weight. The rig can gross around 14,000, and I'm probably approaching that at times when we are loaded for a craft show. Thanks to all for the thoughts.

RE: Rough Ride

I don’t feel any vibration. It pulls sweet. It just bounces everything around. Didn’tnotice that with E rated tires at 80 pounds.

Rough Ride

Last fall, I installed a set of Sailun tires on my Montana, upgrading to G rated tires. I’m running only 90-95 pounds in the tires. They are shaking the camper quite a bit. Last week, we cravked three crock pots on the way home. Does anyone else experience this?

RE: Best way through St. Paul

Getting through the twin cities proved tough. Construction detoured us from getting through on I35E and accessing I494 around. We finally took 62 East to 494 and made it around the city only to be backed up for quite a while due to construction north of the city.

Best way through St. Paul

Heading up 35 toDuluth tomorrow. Is it best to take 494 around the city?

I obtained a 50 to 30 dogbone which plugs directly into the male plug on the back of my camper. I rarely need to run both AC units, and this allows me to use a much, much, smaller 30 amp extension cord to serve the camper when we are traveling. Horsing that huge 50 amp cord around was a real hassle. Again, the 30 amp breaker on the campground box protects me.

RE: Dish Network has tough road to become mobile carrier

My biggest issue with Dish (and also Centurylink) was their deceptive billing practices. They will put you on a "special" rate, and then, after two years, bump up the price. If you call and gripe, they will give you the special rate again. After a $30 bump in Dish price, I decided to go to an RV plan where I could turn on a month at a time. The agent convinced me to go to a "suspended" plan, where for $5.00 per month, I could turn the dish on for a few days at a time, only paying for that time. At home, we stream just about everything, and we have great OTA coverage. With a Firestick and the firestick box, I can even record. With my ATT plan, I have WatchTV which offers all of the channels that I used on my former Dish account. WatchTV also offers back episodes of most of the shows, so you can watch them at your convenience or binge them. Where we winter, however, streaming is not possible either with ATT or our park WIFI; therefore, I may decide to turn on Dish.
