Install the hatch shock absorber

Now to pose the question, I have floor hatch that I d like to install a pair of shock absorbers. The type that help lift the lid an then hold it in place. Couple issues. How to figure the length of shock absorber I need . Then how much you extend the shock when mounting? Tips or suggestions. Maybe a cabinet maker is who I need to ask. Lol. Thanks

RE: Xantrex guru please

Just purchased Xantrex 3012 new with remote. Amazon. Remote question, I have the manual hoping after several of you send advise to refer to It which I will. Can anyone tell me in the simple est terms : Regarding knowing what my battery power is I keep the remote function display on that screen. There is a bar graph blue. Is that what I need to view to know if my batt bank Is in the safe operating range? My goal is not to let the bank go below 50%, in order to protect the batts. Thanks guys Upgraded to this unit after years of the 2k freedom. That remote with idiot lights I could read across the room. Not so much with this digital display Also. Can I set up an alarm with this unit that will sound when the bank goes below 50% Of charge. Thanks

Carbon dioxide

Have u ever had your CO detector go off because of a neighbor s generator exhaust. Is there a recognized rule of thumb for yardage for a safe distance? Even if weather conditions are at the very worst so the CO doesn’t dissipate? Our discussions camper to camper was regarding this issue, lots of variables Including the efficiency of the generator along with the exhaust system obviously weather. Along with openness of the area. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts or theories.

RE: 2 Dish tv sats

maybe I don't understand...why not just use the new rotatable dish at the dock as well? why mess with two dishes?? I'm betting the one dish is mounted on the dock roof and they may be under cover at the dock. True I’m under roof. It’s so much easier when we come back In just to have it set an locked in I was told years when they finally got it in they had to hit 3?sats instead of 2

2 Dish tv sats

I’ll start with this set up is on a Houseboat . 2 dishes within 5 ft of each other. One is currently on a fixed position used only when at our dock slip A second dish is now being mounted with a rotar This dish is used when we are parked away from the dock. Only One receiver an one tv. I’m trying too keep from running another 105 feet of cable through a complicated area. I’m assuming I can use quick disconnect fittings for the main line to either use Dish 1 or Dish 2the . (Main line to the one an only receiver) Question is there a splitter option. So as not to have to unconnect an re connect

RE: Honda 2000: surprisingly poor oil fill tube design

Make it easy on yourself and measure out the correct quantity of oil (yours is about 13.5 oz), tip the generator on it’s side and use a long neck funnel to pour it in. Put the cap on and don’t bother checking the level against the filler hole. Your generator has a low oil level warning system on it that will shut the engine down before it reaches an unsafe level. :):) This!! Ditto use a dawn dish soap bottle put a piece of duct tape even with 13.5 ounce level funnel. I stuff a few paper towels inside the filler an case tip it over and let it drain in a towel on a flat baking dish No need to check the level

RE: Xantrex vs Magnum

Yes on pure sine wave. My neighbor is on his second frig they were both so new Warranty was still there to save the day I guess neither repair person realized the issue was a result of the inverter Houseboat use. When out most bounce 1/2 the day on inverter other half on Red Honda In the day 2000 or so boat builders didn’t install pure sign waves in moderate range HB

RE: Xantrex vs Magnum

I have the 2812, and while it works well, I would not buy it again. Mine is six years old at this point. Mainly my gripe is 12v. I should have studied more and went with a higher voltage on the battery bank. The biggest issue is the difference between full and "empty". On a 12v system that's only 0.8 volts, not much margin. On a 48v system you have 3.2 volt difference to work with. Also like Don said, no hybrid mode on the 2812, the 3012 is the newer model with the load support feature. Load support lets you run heavy loads on a small generator or weak shore power connection. It uses battery to supplement amps. Victron has more bells and whistles, not sure what improvements they offer. So the 3012. I’m missing something it’s 1/2 the cost of a 2812, is it just inverter no charger

RE: Xantrex vs Magnum

Hi, I have the Magnum 3012 hybrid. I'd look at Outback, and Victron. (i.e. I would not buy a Magnum, should mine fail again). I would definitely want the hybrid feature, in any unit I purchased. I’m listening what is hybrid feature How old is your Magnum What about the Magnum u don’t like Thanks
