RE: Arctic Fox 1150 is breaking my 2016 Ford 350 dually

Aluminum is kinda brittle and has no grain...Makes me kinda wonder if this would've happened with a steel bed - I donno?? 3 tons Nope. I do know. Read my earlier post on this thread. rick

Camera Source sells cameras and a Ford connector like this one for about $200. https://camerasource.com/ford-super-duty-plug-play-camper-camera-kit-mini-universal-cam.html They sell other brands as well. Yes, that is why I have. I had connector matching issues and so they sent all 3 possibilities and I selected the one that worked and returned the others. Great support. Rick

RE: Arctic Fox 1150 is breaking my 2016 Ford 350 dually

Does your 2019 Dodge have a steel bed, rather than aluminum, as the Ford does now? Here's a good video an info for a ram 5500 flatbed. About half price of a Douglas body, so he says. https://www.stablecamper.com/truck-beds Yeah, steel. I agree with you that the aluminum is the issue, not so much the weight of the camper if that weren't the case. NO the aluminum bed is NOT the issue. I have had both. The 2004 steel bed was much worse. As I indicate in my earlier posts, the horse stall mats and Torklift tie downs have made bed damage in my aluminum bed a non-issue. My aluminum bed still looks new after 15k miles on the new setup. Rick

To make things clearer, here are photos of my damaged bed in the F350 that I had previously: Depression in the side of the bed at the rear Plywood that sort of helped Crack in rear sheet metal below tailgate caused by buckling Update. I have horse stall mats in my aluminum bed. I am sure that is making a difference when I see your damage. Rick

RE: Arctic Fox 1150 is breaking my 2016 Ford 350 dually

My 2004 f350 did that. All the weight of the camper is on the two side rails. The space on the bottom of the camper in between is not weight bearing. The truck bed was not designed to handle that long linear twin load and as a result in buckles up in the middle. Plywood helped fix my problem but it was not a perfect solution. My 2019 F350 seems to handle that weight a little better, perhaps by design... Rick

RE: It’s been a good run

6v Golf cart batts have performed so superior to 12v whatever. I can't imagine any other way now. The deep discharge capability is non-destructive on purpose. Rick
