RE: Found a new way to test brake wiring and magnets

That is what I love about my Prodigy P3. It has a diagnostic function that I use every morning before I start a trip. With four brakes I have found it is 1 amp per volt applied. My max setting when I use the manual lever is 7.5 volts thus I should read about 7.5 amps with full lever travel for my setting. How do you initiate this test, or is done automatically on power up? Ron W.

RE: Deep cycle battery for AC?

You're talking about a $6,000 plus investment in Lithium batteries, solar panels, inverter, solar charge controllers and a complicated mess of wiring to run an AC for just one night of cooling. And if the sun isn't shining the next day you better have a $2,000 generator to recharge your batteries. Ron W.

RE: RV Ovens

I had a 17" RV oven in our MH and used both a pizza stone and a 'air bake' cookie sheet with fair results. My friend purchased a new "Grand Design" 5th wheel with a 22" Furrion oven. The Furrion had a piezo igniter and a oven light, plus it was 4" taller. Last year I removed my old oven and installed a new Furrion. It is truly a great oven, no leaks and lights without getting on the floor. I lost 4" of pan storage space but the new oven cooks just like my oven at home. Love our Furion oven, especially the glass door. We hang an analog temp gauge from the wire rack and can see the exact inside temperature. It has a nice inside light and oven piezo starter. Ron W. Ron, does your Furrion have the fan in it? I hate that SOB when I'm trying to start the oven but assume it helps even heat during baking. I wish it could come on when the oven reaches set temperature instead of during pilot light. No fan in my oven. I could see how one would effect pilot light. Ron W.

RE: refrigerator iceing up

I have a Norcold model 1200 series fridge, and all of sudden the fins in the fridge part are iceing up. I completely defrosted it and put in a fridge fan.....still iceing up. Anyone have any ideas why? or what I should do? Leaky door seal?..You could be getting warm air and humidity bypassing a seal somewhere. Ron W

Rv Trip Wizard question

How can I get a trip I planned on Trip Wizard onto my cell phone and use the planned trip on Google Maps. I don't have a standalone GPS nor do I have a Computer, we only have our phones and a 10" Galaxy Tablet running Android 7. Thanks Ron W.

RE: Dometic Fridge RM 2610 help-gas works, won't get cold

If you have flame and no cooling not too much to check. Maybe you have a build up of soot in the exhaust tube or that twisted rod that hangs down inside the tube has broken off. Try giving the burner tube a good rap Other than that it appears that the fluid isn't moving right and your suggestion of flipping it might be the only way out. Ron W.

RE: Generator Obsrevations.

I have some solar panels (300 watts ) and the associated parts, inverter, lithium batteries and charge controller from my last camper which I will be installing in my new camper. But, I will not be expanding that solar system. I too had listened to a 3000Is setup in the bed of a truck and was blown away by it's quietness. I have decided instead to spend the money I had set aside for solar expansion and get a 3000is Honda instead. I plan to mount it semi permanently in the bed of the truck and get the remote start option. When setting up at a new campsite if air conditioner isn't needed I can run most everything I need off solar and when the need arises to use the AC or microwave, hit the remote start and I'm good to go. We have been a little disappointed in the solar side of generating power when camping, since most of our camping is East of the Mississippi, shade is a killer for solar. Ron W.

RE: Furnace pops breaker after 30 seconds.

OP back, looks like Doug's post is the answer :) Before reading his response, being the genius I am, I changed the fuse to a 20 amp as a test and it worked. Of course, along with the heat came a burning smell so I shut it down immediately. Makes sense now. We will be on full hook up this trip so no problem keeping warm. Ron W.

RE: Furnace pops breaker after 30 seconds.

Bring an electric space heater if you will have utility power. No problem, I'm bringing my Mr Buddy Heater along with my Vornado electric. Ron W.

RE: Furnace pops breaker after 30 seconds.

Ok, some more details..... It's a Dometic DF series furnace controlled by the new InCommand system that Keystone is now installing. The breaker that is tripping is a 12 volt 15 Amp breaker on the 12 volt side of the distribution panel. After 30 seconds it trips and the associated red Led light pops on. I can reset it by turning off the furnace control. It doesn't matter if I run it Auto mode or Manual mode. Of course selecting manual mode for fan spèed also turns on the AC fan in the ceiling. The manual does go into detail about some led error code faults but I'm not pulling the furnace out to read them.?...I'll leave that to the warrantee people at the dealer when we get back from our camping trip. RE: Furnace pops breaker after 30 seconds.

Mr Ron, Without hinting about volts and amps, you are opening the floodgate for 500 different opinions with a correct answer hiding like a needle in a haystack. Polite suggestion. It's new, right? Take it back to the dealer. Return home and pop a brewski. :) I will be taking it to the dealer but we're heading off for 10 days near Asheville first, no time for dealer trip. Ron W.

Furnace pops breaker after 30 seconds.

My new Cougar has it's first problem, the furnace runs(gets hot)for 30 seconds or so then pops the 15 amp breaker. It doesn't make a difference if I run on Auto or manual fan, same symptoms. I'm thinking the fan sounds a little strange, but that could be my lousy old age hearing?? Any ideas....no time to bring it for warranty service we're off on a camping trip Sunday. Ron W.

Finding 12v wires for vent fan

What's been people's experience when adding a powered fan to replace a manual vent with no fan when, when it comes to finding the 12 volt leads in the roof. Does Keystone run the wires nearby or will I be forced to fish them from a ceiling light? My model is a 2019 25RES. Thanks Ron W.

Anyone know when Port Saint Joe State Park will open again?

Title says it all. That was one of our favorite beachfront campgrounds in the US. I'm guessing without direct road access to the park nothing has been done in the last year and half ?? Ron W.

RE: Has anyone negotiated a buy back from Keystone?

Op back, I agree with never hire a lawyer for a case like this, it will always get you less in the end. Even though I had a dozens of problems with this camper whenever I have spoken to customer service I have been treated fairly. Sometimes I didn't get all I wanted but they made the attempt to square things away. And I'm sure, in the end I will get a fair shake, I hope ?? Ron W.

RE: Has anyone negotiated a buy back from Keystone?

They will want to replace it. I had a 2008 copper canyon had serious problems talked with them in a calm way. End result was they replaced it with a 2011 cougar. They had it delivered to me in SC batteries full propane tanks had dealer check it out before delivery. no cost to me at all. Hopefully we will have the same outcome as you did. I too was always respectful when talking with dealer and Keystones warranty people, never worth getting aggrivated, they didn't build it! Now, had I been in touch with the line workers that did build the unit I would have a few choice things to say to them ?? We should know more in a day or two. Ron W.

RE: Has anyone negotiated a buy back from Keystone?

Op back, we're not "locked" into a Keystone Cougar but we did have a 2007 Cougar (similar size and floorplan) and it was trouble free for 10 years. Go figure..? From what I'm reading it's still a crapshoot with most RV products, you're taking a chance with them all. Except the higher price models and they are usually are too heavy for my truck. Ron W.
