RE: SACRAMENTO RV park recommendations?

Sac West is nice. Not cheap but only about 4 miles from downtown.

RE: North Whidbey Rv Park @ Oak Harbor,WA

I do not believe Deception Pass has any full hook ups! You must add the Discovery Pass to the rate. You don’t need a Discovery pass if you are camping there.

RE: North Whidbey Rv Park @ Oak Harbor,WA

Have never stayed there but see it when we go to Deception Pass State Park. Looks like a nice clean park but spaces look close together. If you’re looking for more of a outdoorsy experience Rather than just the standard concrete pads next to each other, the State Park right across the street is a much better choice although they might already be booked up for Aug.

RE: Portland Oregon Parks question

Family friends relocated to Portland and did the same thing you want to do. They stayed at the Janzen Beach RV Park on the Columbia River. They have monthly rates but not sure of any time limit. I know they were there for a few months. Nice park on the Oregon side about five miles west of the airport. Depending on time of day could be a very short commute. Close to shopping and restaurants also.

RE: Question about removing black tank

You might not have to remove the whole underbelly material if it’s what I have under mine. Mine is a corrugated plastic material. When I had a broken remote dump valve line repaired they just cut a flap in the underbelly and then taped it back up. No problem. You would just have to cut a bigger flap to expose the tank. Shouldn’t be that difficult to remove tank. Hooking up new sewer line would be easy. Only issue would be the hole and if new toilet would match up. If not, perhaps one of those old fashion wall mounted tanks if wall could support it.

RE: It could have went bad!

We were about 5 miles from our destination when the TPMS alarm sounded. Rapid pressure lose. Right rear tire flat. No big deal, had room to pull over to put on spare. Pulled tire off and noticed a deep groove around the rear sidewall of tire. It’s then I discovered the problem. The shackles holding the rear axle leaf springs to the center equalizer had broken. The tire had been rubbing up against the shock absorber bracket. Since we were so close I put the spare on and we limped the final few miles. It was then I discovered that the shackles on the other side was broken also. So basically the only thing holding the rear axle on was the two rear leaf spring bolts. Can’t say how long it had been this way. Shudder to think what could have happened.

RE: Glacier 2020 vanished

What people have to realize about these predictions is the fact that just because they didn’t happen when people said they would doesn’t mean they won’t. 50 years is just a nano second compared to the age of the earth. So I have to laugh at those who claim it’s all a big hoax. History will not be kind to our stupidity.

RE: Plan on going to Pioneer Trail RV Park @ Anacortes WA

We have driven by this park many times on our way to Deception Pass State Park. Looks nice and has good reviews but Deception Pass is by far the better choice IMO. It’s only about 5 miles further down the road and much more scenic. One of the best State parks in Washington. Site 57 is one of the best but any in the forest loop are nice. The quarry sites across the highway are a good second choice if you can’t get into the main sites. Reserve early though.

Don’t be like me...Check those shackle links....

Have a 2006 fifth wheel. Been trouble free..... until last Friday. Driving down the road my TPM went off. Right rear trailer tire loosing pressure fast. Luckily had room to pull off road. Broke out the spare and went to change tire. It’s then I noticed the two shackle links hanging off the equalizer. &@&$”. Was only a few miles from campground so I put the spare on and we limped in. Upon further inspection I discovered the other side shackles were also broke. God knows how long I have been driving like this. Only reason I caught it was the tire. The axle had shifted a couple inches and back of tire was rubbing against shock bracket until it blew. Only thing holding rear axle on was the two rear leaf spring bolts and one side shock strut. Other side shock strut broke off. Someone must be looking out for me because this could have been BAD!! If you have not checked those links in awhile do it now.

RE: Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

The main thing to remember is that the MPG reading is a lie. If you really want to know your MPG, keep track of mileage and amounts added to the tank, over several tankfuls you'll get your pretty accurate MPG. Yes I have done that on long trips and found the computer to be maybe .5 MPG off.

Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

I have been towing our 30ft fiver for years with a Silverado 2500 Duramax. Have been using the tow mode and get right around 12MPG. Today we headed out. I zeroed out the trip computer before leaving. Stopped at a rest area about 100 miles out, all freeway traveling at about 60 as usual. It’s then I noticed I had forgot to put it in tow mode. Checked MPG reading and was surprised to see 15 MPG. Tran temp and engine temp were normal so just left it off the rest of trip, another 140 miles. Checked again at end and got 14.4 MPG. So my question.. On fairly flat highways should I leave towing mode off and only turn it on when I hit the hills?

How about some common courtesy...

If you can afford a 50k+ RV, do your fellow travelers a favor and spring for a appropriate generator. A 3000w contractor gen belongs on a job site not with your RV. Casino RV overnight parking area. Spaces very close together. These fine folks had a very nice fifth wheel, looked like they were staying awhile. Had a nice little pet corral set up three feet into the next space. Ran their gen till 10:30 last night and started again at 7:30 this morning. Felt sorry for their neighbors. We were 5 slots down and had to keep windows closed.

RE: Olympic National Park

On your way to or from Mt Rainier you may want to spend a couple days around Port Townsend. Either at Fort Worden State Park, my first choice or if they are full, Fort Flagler State Park. You can take a whale watching tour from Port Townsend up into the San Juan islands for Killer Whale sightings.

RE: Redwoods National Park, Coos Bay area and Olympic nat park

A nice side trip on your way to Shelton would be Port Townsend. Historic downtown with its Victorian architecture is very cool. Fort Worden State Park just outside town is one of the best in Washington State. Very scenic.
