RE: Best cell service providers, (areas covered)

We have used Verizon all over the US and even in Canada with no problems. We have cell service and the Mi-Fi internet with them. Not cheap. If you don't need speed they have "unlimited" plan but beware and read the fine print. They throttle the speed after a certain amount of usage. I switched to their "unlimited" and switched back to the plan I had before with no penalty. I'd rather pay more for the speed.

RE: Newbie researching Class A.

We full time in a 33' Class A DP. Agree that it's the floor plan not the length. Must haves: slide outs, walk around queen size bed, enough storage space. The reason we purchased a shorter DP is that we can fit into more state, national and corps of engineers campgrounds.

RE: Any rv techs on these boards?

RE: Am I doing this wrong ?

Some tips: 1. Use www.woodalls.com to search and filter for RV sites. 2. Use www.recreation.gov to search for Corps of Engineers campgrounds in Michigan. You can input your rig length to filter site sizes. The results will list the site size and whether it has electric. They are usually more a bit more developed. Try to select a site and see if there is a photo of the actual site. 3. Use www.reserveamerica.com and search for RV sites with 30A electric, select the park, select a site and look at the photo. 4. Look at www.rvparkreviews.com and read reviews from people staying in Class A's. 5. Learn to boondock and use your generator rather than depending on electric hookup. Just make sure your fuel tank is full.

RE: Dale Hollow

Check Deep Valley Campground in Allons TN. Found them on Woodalls and they get pretty good reviews. Don't see their rates tho.

RE: Military Campgrounds

You both can get Department of Defense/Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Cards at base security. DD Form 2765. The 100% DAV is the sponsor for the spouse. The DAV will obtain the card first. You must provide DD214, social security card, proof of eligibility (letter stating 100% P&T). The spouse must provide marriage certificate, social security card and 2 forms of ID. The DAV must go with the spouse to sign the form.

RE: BILOXI MS.PARKING AT CASINOS

Most of the RV Parks in Biloxi are so-so. You can read all the reviews on www.rvparkreviews.com. Of those in Biloxi we prefer Majestic Oaks but the sites are very close together and despite the name there is no shade. It's the most convenient. There is RV parking across the street from Harrah's but no hookups and I'm sure they will limit how many nights you can stay: I found this on their site: "Harrah's Gulf Coast provides ample free covered parking for all of our guests. Both the casino and hotel multi-story parking garages are easily accessed from Highway 90, as is our valet area. A separate area adjacent to our hotel is reserved for larger vehicles such as buses and RV’s. We ask our guests with large vehicles to call ahead to the Security Department for entrance to that area. They can be reached at 1-800-946-2946, extension 62864. Please note, however, there are no hook-up connections for RV’s." We prefer Hollywood Casino RV Park in Bay St Louis, or Silver Slipper Casino RV Park in Waveland. About 20 minute drive into Biloxi but we don't mind. We play at the Silver Slipper too. Don't miss Island View Casino in Gulfport. Best comps, free slots, etc. There is one RV park near Island View on Hwy 90, across from the beach but it's just a gravel lot with hookups, no shade, no landscaping but who needs it with the beach across the street? It's called Gulf Haven Campground.

RE: Where to find good prices on 22.5 Tires

Check B F Goodrich. We bought ST230's load range H at the recommendation of a tire guy in TX that put tires on Prevost coaches. Owned by Michelin but cheaper prices. They are made in the USA. We were happy with them. They are not the cheapest but wear well and ride OK. We splurged this time and bought Michelins thru the FMCA program and they do ride better but worth the price?? DH thinks so. Me, not so much.

RE: Internet options for full timers

Although I don't use it for work, I have used Verizon Wireless Jetpack Wi-Fi all over the US and even Canada with no problems. If you have a good cell signal, you have internet. (Do not get the unlimited plan). I switched to the "unlimited" plan and switched back because they slow down your speed after a small minimal usage. It's not cheap.

RE: Replacing carpet

Ditto what Bill Satellite said. Ernie Eckberg in Weatherford TX is the best. We like Oak Creek RV Park in Weatherford.

RE: Info on Asheville NC

We stayed at Mama Gerties and it didn't work for us. The showers are down a steep hill. My husband's knees are shot and he couldn't walk in the park at all. Had to drive to the shower and walk up a hill after he parked the car. He wasn't impressed. It's beautiful and if you don't have knee or hip issues you will love it there. We usually stay at KOA East. Not the best KOA but suited our needs and nice place to walk.

RE: A/C problem

our sensor is on the wall in the bedroom. The thermistor is inside the AC like this: http://www.adventurerv.net/sensor-kitremote-pi-15863.html When we had our front AC replaced the tech didn't hook up the remote sensor. Our thermostat is near the windshield (stupid) and that caused the front AC to run all the time and not cycle on and off. Once we added the thermistor that fixed it. Our back AC wasn't coming on. We were told to: 1. reset the thermostat (directions online or in manual). 2. Put both AC fans on high in high temperature and high humid conditions to prevent coils from freezing up. 3. Check the voltage to make sure the voltage isn't going too low. We bought a plug in voltage meter. 4. Check all the connections (like phone cords), unplug, clean and plug back in. 5. Check coils to make sure they are clean. Our new AC that we had installed in 2014 already had dirty coils.

RE: Texas to Florida

we have been to TX from FL and back many times. We go through Wichita Falls to Decatur TX and take US380 east. (at Denton you can follow the truck route or go straight thru). In Greenville TX take US69 south to I-20. In Jackson MS, take US49 south to I-10. I-10 to US331 south to Santa Rosa Beach. Once you get your route established, we can help with stops.

RE: Establishing Residency

Get the UPS box and address set up. You need 2 forms of ID like birth certificate, social security card, passport, CA DL if it contains a RealID marking. You also need 2 residency documents listed here: http://www.dmvnv.com/dlresidency.htm

RE: Full time rv living

you also need to check local laws. In some counties you cannot live in an RV unless it is located in an RV Park. We are parked in a driveway temporarily in Florida and the code enforcement people came by and said we cannot hook it up. You could ask for a temporary permit??

RE: Trip from SW OK to Milford, MI

We like Lake Fort Smith State Park in Arkansas. We also like Sam A Baker State Park in Missouri. Then to miss St Louis, we would go east to I-57 in IL and stop at Rend Lake near Benton IL. There are several Corps of Engineers campground and also Wayne Fitzgerald State Park on Rend Lake. We prefer South Marcum Campground. Closest to I-57. Farther north at Shelbyville IL is Forrest W "Bo" Wood Campground. Farther off I-57 but worth it.

RE: BF Goodrich tires

We put BF Goodrich ST230's Load Range H on our diesel pusher several years ago at the recommendation of Pro Tire in Denton TX. He used to work on Prevost. B F Goodrich is owned by Michelin and the tires are made in the USA. We drove them for 6.5 yrs and put many miles on them with no problems. My DH used to work for Goodyear so he knows tires. He was happy with them. His only complaint was that they road a bit "stiff" We did switch to Michelins last time. Lots more money and I can't tell the difference. He can.
