RE: Time to prepare

Here also. Prepping to go down to Lake Ocoee in Georgia soon. Checking things over and shining things up. I'm ready. Love coming down to Louisianna too. We go to Abita Springs usually.
Lake Ocoee is on our list for this year. Our plans for the trips aren't final yet with too much project to finish. Hope to get out there by the end of the month once the parts from 4Wheelonline arrived and get installed.

RE: formaldehyde smell

Two methods: 1 put 3 or 4 saucers or shallow bowls filled with vinegar in the space and let it sit for a week. Then remove the saucers and air out the space. 2nd sift baking soda on all surfaces. Let sit for a few days then vacuum the material surfaces and wipe the hard surfaces. Air out the space for a day.
This should help with your problem.
Okay I will tip my friend neighbor with those tricks.

RE: microwave replacement

Another option is to modify the compartment where you old RV microwave was mounted so that it can accept ordinary microwaves.
Example:

Looks great! My uncle is also having a hard time looking for a replacement microwave. We'll just finish installing the suspension and jeep wheels on his Wrangler this week and we'll start interior modding of his RV.

RE: Battery power

Those devices are convenient, but significantly over priced !
Definitely!
Your RV already has the battery. All you need is a solar panel and charge controller - both of which are dirt-cheap nowadays.
Here's a handy, inexpensive way of hooking solar panels up to just about any trailer - without making any modifications to the trailer whatsoever:

You simply plug your trailer's hitch connector into it. Power from the charge controller (Renogy's $20 Wanderer 10A PWM model) is supplied to your RV's house batteries through the Charging wire in the hitch connector.
The $13 Harbor Freight Apache 1800 protective case case is waterproof (when the lid is closed), so this rig can be left outdoors indefinitely.
I use it with a 100 watt solar panel (around $85) connected by 50 feet of wire. This portable arrangement allows the panel to be moved around to whatever part of the campsite has strong sunlight, and allows the panel to be quickly removed and stowed.
That's a pretty good kit!

RE: Mildew pre treatment

Put a few damp rid containers inside in different areas. Damp rid is your friend.
My uncle has been dealing with mildew lately. I'll tip him about the damp rid.

RE: rv mattress

This one.
The wife likes it...so, I guess I do too.
That looks like a good one. My aunt is asking for a recommendation as well for their new RV. I will help them install the cabinet and accessories after it returns from tire mounting and balancing.

RE: towing a popup with 2008 Odyssey - assorted questions

This might be of help; Honda Odyssey Towing Capacities From 2000-2020 Good resource - 2008-2010 Models
You can find the Owners Manual here.
I met a local guy who tow with his Odyssey, and he mentioned he keep it at 2000 capacity.

RE: Mildew pre treatment

Small dehumidifier will offer you excellent protection. And we live in the PNW where mildew thrives like a king.
Maybe we should try a dehumidifier next.

RE: Fridge lock

The Fridge Fixer is what we use.
Fridge Fixer on Amazon
A bit pricey but a great product.
Our new RV came with Insignia appliances and the fridge does not have handles that can be used with a strap.
Alright, I will show this to aunt. They got Insignia ref with no handle. I'm coming over this weekend to help them install the headache rack and tonneau covers on the truck.

Anyone who even thinks about connecting a smart TV to campground WiFi clearly doesn’t understand the concept of bandwidth.I think about it, and I found several that actually work.
