Not bad for 11 years and 240,000 miles.

https://i.postimg.cc/bwQm6ZXd/IMG-1108.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/6pNk5Jt2/IMG-1111.jpg Still running the factory brakes. New fuel pump at 180,000. Miscellaneous items and regular maintenance. Doesn't use a drop of oil between oil changes and that's carrying the 4000 lb camper fulltime. It sure has been and still is a great truck.

RE: Bought a second truck.

https://i.postimg.cc/LXV07QBR/IMG-7259.jpg I rotated my tires front to rear and made an appointment at a local tire shop to have the two rear tires flipped on their rims and moved to the opposite sides. The tire guy came out a while later and told me that they weren't directional tires because they don't have an arrow on them pointing the rotation direction. He's the guy that caused the tire manufactures to put rotation direction arrows on tires to begin with. He's not smart enough to tell by the tread design but only by an arrow. :S I said thanks and left. While I was their they gave me a bid on winter tires for my car. They quoted me a price on Mastercard tires made by Cooper. I can buy the real Cooper tire for nearly $40/tire cheaper. I seriously doubt that I'll be going back to that tire store.

RE: Bought a second truck.

https://i.postimg.cc/pLYQhy3v/IMG-0911.jpg Today was rotate the tires day. Being directional tread all I can do is go front to rear. I have an appointment Wednesday morning to have the tire shop flip the two rear tires around on the rims, re-balance them and trades sides. I really didn't want directional tires but when I bought them that's all there was to be had. https://i.postimg.cc/FKTjp89n/deestone.gif This was the tread pattern that I wanted but no one had them. I'll get them next time. https://i.postimg.cc/HWqb6QgH/IMG-0916.jpg I'm pleased with the color of the spark plugs too. Pretty awesome that the jetting was right on right out of the box. https://i.postimg.cc/R0ZtWdc1/IMG-0918.jpg Don't ask me why but I love that the old truck is powered by Mercury. :B

RE: Bought a second truck.

Cool that you bought a new truck! Thank you. Its been a lot of fun. https://i.postimg.cc/52BDVsvT/IMG-0742.jpg Went to run an errand the other day and it wouldn't start. It acted like the engine was seized. I couldn't budge it with a braker bar so I figured it must be the starter motor. https://i.postimg.cc/59Zx9kY2/IMG-0741.jpg Sure enough, the starter drive busted. I bought it back in June from a small independent rebuilder. I refuse to buy alternators and starters from the local parts store. He took it in the back room and rebuilt it again for me. It sounds great and spins the engine better than it did before. https://i.postimg.cc/W1NxsMn4/IMG-0746.jpg So while I was there I bought a re-man alternator too. The one on the truck is a rebuilt Westling and they are junk too so its getting replaced too. 150 mile round trip. Well worth the drive.

RE: GM vs Ford tow off. Who will win on the Ike?

If I bought a new truck I'd buy the one that was most comfortable to sit in, not the one with the most power. These days they all have plenty pf power. I won't sit in s Dodge though. ;)

RE: TIRES,,,,,need 4

https://i.postimg.cc/nr8n3B02/IMG-8091.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/02s8mG62/IMG-8083.jpg I've had 6 or 7 different sets of tires on my truck and hands down these Michelin Agilis Cross Climate tires have been the best soo far. They are amazing at high speed winter driving. https://i.postimg.cc/KjyyPF8s/IMG-6646.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/9QN5xyf9/IMG-6653.jpg I bought some 18" wheels off a 2019 GMC Denali and went with Toyo Open County A/T III because Michelin doesn't make the Agilis Cross Climate in the size that I wanted. With only 6000 miles on them the Toyo tire are wearing pretty good. They do just fine in all weather conditions but seem to be a little on the noisy. But what do you expect from a fairly aggressive A/T...

RE: 2024 GMC HD Reveal

I saw a meme on facebook this morning and thought they were just kidding around. If I keep it I'm definitely putting a lowering kit on it. 2" would be huge. https://i.postimg.cc/fWmfZzC6/2024-chevy-pu.jpg Butt Fn Ugly!! LOL https://i.postimg.cc/ZqzJGLqk/1.jpg I don't care for how high I have to step to get into this one. https://i.postimg.cc/fbsh2THD/IMG-8649.jpg Trying not to be biased but THIS is a good looking truck. ;) All the new trucks are butt ugly and that new GMC might just take the cake.

RE: How many of you own an EV?

When you go to one of those charging stations like they have here at Walmart, how much does it cost to recharge your EV? Idk, but I tried to find the picture of charging our SRT8 at an EV spot, must've deleted it. Only parking spot left in a parkade (Canadian for parking garage) was for EVs, but I saw a Tesla parked in a dino burner spot, so I opened the gas tank filler door and stuck the charging cable in the filler neck. Was good to go for the night. But the gas tank still read half empty in the morning.:? https://i.postimg.cc/vBHDXMDy/lol.png

RE: Bought a second truck.

https://i.postimg.cc/Zqw2sgG3/IMG-0411.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/T3DHJ19z/IMG-0412.jpg The 390 that came in my truck was out of a passenger car and so was the 410. They both have front sump oil pans and the factory 360s had rear sump oil pans. So I started looking for new ones and they don't exist so I asked in one of the forums and they told me they are impossible to find. I searched the internet with no luck. I did find one in Canada for $100 plus $43 shipping, but it was just the pan. So as the last straw I called a local salvage yard and they had everything. Oil pan, pickup tube, main rod cap bolt with stud to support the pickup tube, dipstick and dipstick tube. All for $75. https://i.postimg.cc/W4mWxyxS/IMG-0410.jpg I also got a fan shroud, fan and fan clutch for another $25. Yep, I hit the mother load. LOL

RE: Bought a second truck.

I have crazy idea of buying a truck and a trailer and have someone drive it for me while I continue to work my regular job. I don't expect to get rich from it I just wanna make some extra money. I don't wanna be tied up in a large investment so talking with the bank the investment I want to make would put me at about $1200/month. Now with paying a driver, insurance, maintenance, etc. would there be money to be made. I would probably start off with a flat bed buy it at auction on wheel and I would drive it as well but I mostly want to keep other people in it. Say wut? Maybe go check you blood sugar or something…. Maybe Ranni wants to buy your truck spectra? And pay you to drive it for her?? I was thinking it maybe got posted in the wrong thread. :)

RE: Bought a second truck.

I had a couple of friends that had them in the later 70s, we never called them highboys. I think the first time I heard the term highboy was in the early 90s when one of my daughters was dating a kid that had one, they called it a highboy. When I first got mine it didn't look as "lifted" as I remembered them years ago. That's why I didn't think it was a highboy. Live and learn. LOL

RE: Bought a second truck.

@spectra, back to your initial post in this thread, why are you glad it's not a highboy? Lack of education on my part, it is a highboy. :S That's the nickname they picked up over the years. In one brochure just one time in maybe 1975(?) Ford referred to them as a "high lift" truck and by then they were already being called highboys.

https://i.postimg.cc/mgr90YWN/IMG-0246.jpg I went from #70 primary jets down to #68. Here's a spark plug with a few hundred miles on it after re-jetting. I think I'm going to go back to the #70 jets.

RE: Truck Scalping

Dealers have been doing this for years on high demand vehicles. I remember my sister paying and extra $5000 over retail for a new 2002 Thunderbird.

RE: Bought a second truck.

Thanks again for the comments. Ford's seem to thrive on higher compression. I'm sure the 10.5-1 compression helps the 410 a lot.
