long term non-use/storage

I have health issues and have not used my Class B Xplorer230XL since last August. I filled the gas tank and added stabil. I winterized the water system and removed the house batteries. I just found out the starter battery is dead and not recoverable. I keep it in my driveway. I may not be able to use it until mid 2021. Is there anything else I should do? I'm guessing I should remove the bad starter battery and either replace it or just leave it empty.

RE: Basic questions about Class B's

My 1997 Xplorer 230XL has a 25 gal fw tank. I usually boondoack a lot. I do carry 2-4 gallon jugs of water in the van. I camp alone so use less. I can last up to a week. If not I find a place to refill.

RE: What $125,000 gets you in Germany

From a 20 year class b owner - i like it. but how many feet long is it? Soes it have propane? i skimmed the video & may have missed that. Otherwise how would it be heated while boondocking. It seems luxurious.

RE: MI extended stay at home

And the daily death number continues to decline as it has for 4 weeks now. Michigan has been one of the best states the last 4 weeks for declining deaths.

The deaths and confirmed daily cases has been going down for weeks. Michigan has been better than most states in this time period. We started bad, the 3rd worst, but have gotten much better. I'll try to attach my stat sheet. I bought Dometic's high efficiency unit which draws less power. That allows it to run on a Honda 2000.

I'm also in Michigan, and do cancel my AAA insurance except for comprehensive when my RV is stored in my driveway & not used. I've done this for years. It's usually not in storage during the month of registration renewal so I cannot talk about that.

RE: RV Parks to be used to Quaratine people

It's crazy. This manufactured crisis has people stupid. According to the story, Los Angeles Co has a population of 10 million (10,000,000) but only 230 total cases and 2 deaths. That's a crisis? Hell, they abort more babies than that everyday. You are either on drugs or should be. This pandemic is just starting and is not manufactured. All these steps are an attempt to slow it's spread to prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed. This could be like the 1918 Spanish flu. Italy has been having almost 500 die per day. That would be similar to over 3,000 per day in the US. That is what we are trying to prevent. Everyone should stay home and isolated.

RE: Big Oak River Camp, Camp Wood, TX refused to return deposit

Rules are rules. Coronavirus is not a killer virus worthy of mass hysteria. I live in Arizona and we have 27 cases of Coronavirus and zero deaths. AZ did loose a child but to the H1N1 virus. We didn't have a panic attack when that pandemic hit in 2009. H1N1 had 60.8 million cases, 275,000 hospitalizations and 12,469 deaths. Any businesses close? Any churches close? Any RV parks close? Were there empty shelves in the stores? The hype over the current virus needs to go away, it's not that big a deal. Get over it. This is just starting here. Wait 4 weeks and see how bad it is. Could be the worst since 1918. The restrictions are an attempt to try and prevent that.

RE: Mirror folds up in high winds: solved (but not pretty)

It may be similar to mine on my 1997 Dodge ram van MH. I removed the cover and there were screws to adjust the tightness of the swivel. One seemed stripped. The dealer wanted to sell me the whole unit for $100's. I bought the next larger size screw and a tool that reamed the hole to that size, put it together and it works great for about $15.

You'll like adding a portable as you can then park in the shade and put the panel in the sun. Moving it around is easy and not a problem.

RE: Battle Born Charging

13.3v resting seems to be a fully charged battery for storage. Even though BB says to fully charge their battery for storage there are white papers that have shown irreversible capacity loss when this is done, also temperature during this storage period of time contributes damage. Link below for Calendar Aging and Lifetimes of LiFePO4 Batteries and Considerations for Repurposing. Downloadable pdf, it's not a short read. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://uwspace.uwaterloo.ca/bitstream/handle/10012/12177/Catton_John.pdf%3F&ved=2ahUKEwjpiJ2lgoboAhWKuZ4KHfD_D9oQFjAMegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw3H5362G8-RBulf3pJEDmWU&cshid=1583506056827 I did run some 12volt lights off the batteries when I brought them inside to drain some of their charge. I let them run for a day, so they aren't at full charge. Maybe close, hard to tell.

RE: Battle Born Charging

Just checked my 2 100AH Lifepo4 batteries voltage. I've stored them inside for 4 months now. 13.33 and 13.39 volts. That seems good to leave them alone for the long storage time I still have ahead.

RE: Battle Born Charging

How can you use a Trimetric monitor with a BB? You can set the 100AH as your capacity, and set the charging efficiency for Li, you can make 14.4 your target voltage, and 4 amps your target amps for "full". But the Trimetric uses the AH counter wrt the AH capacity entry for saying what the % SOC is. It does not use rising cell voltage. Mobilesport was reading %SOC from his monitor based on the BB voltage vs % SOC specs, but his AH count was way off. A Trimetric would not do that. How did Mobilesport's monitor manage to? Here's what Bogart Engineering told me last summer: Hello Steve, We have a link below to the TM-2025's User Manual. In it you'll find, on pages 6 & 7, a description of all the 'P' parameters. For Lithium LFP batteries, the changes needed are as follows: P1 - 14.4 Volts. P2 - 2% of P3 (battery bank capacity) P3 - Battery Bank capacity in Amp-hrs P7 - L3 P10 - 98% P14 - 0.00 hrs - Kedar http://www.bogartengineering.com/wp-content/uploads/docs/TM-2025%20Users%20Instructions062017.pdf
