RE: 5th wheel lifting bracket

I have something almost identical to that. My dad made it for me years ago.

RE: What are your yearly registration costs for your truck?

Just renewed today (Nebraska). $1083. Ouch.

RE: Sealer goop on roofs

I tackled this today. The goop was in worse shape than I thought, and there was a ton of it, so I decided to try to remove it. What a pain in the neck. I got 90% of it off, cleaned it all up with mineral spirits and applied the eternabond. I’ll be keeping an eye on it for a while.

RE: Sealer goop on roofs

Thanks. I already have a roll of Eternabond and I’m sure it will hold up better than the goop.

Sealer goop on roofs

The goop they use to seal up joints in the roof is cracking and separating on my rig. It’s right where the front cap meets the rubber roof. Do I need to peel it all off, clean it up and re-apply the same garbage? Or can I remove, clean, and use eternabond tape instead?

RE: Toy Hauler vs Below Floor Garage

I want one. Badly. I'd love a Grand Design but most that I've looked at would work! Jayco has a model now too.

RE: Long term storage - tanks full or empty?

I made Keystone replace my fuel tanks because of the rust inside when I bought it new. The fuel that came out of the fueling station hose was horribly contaminated. Mine stay full at all times now.

RE: NEW RAM HD 1000lb-ft #2

Everybody talking about Laramie's like they're trash. I think mine is freakin sweet compared to my last 2 Big Horn trucks.

RE: rear drop down bed - replace lower couches

I use an RV mattress on top of the folded out couch/bed. Not too terribly uncomfortable.

RE: Cold weather and batteries. Pull them inside?

I tried it last year. Left the battery installed and the camper plugged in all winter. Had to buy a new battery in the spring. I assume it froze up? Local RV dealer said that keeping them plugged in over the cold Nebraska winter will not provide a sufficient trickle charge. It's now pulled and inside the heated garage where it had always been every other winter.

RE: New floor in slideout

Also, for anyone wondering, the spray adhesive worked great!

RE: New floor in slideout

Sounds like exactly the same problem I had with my 2014 Fuzion. Just traded it for a 2018. Main slide floor seems to be a lot better and not 'flexible' from the beginning. My new floor is now installed and I am extremely confident that it’s better than when it left the factory. I have heard that other Fuzion owners have had the same issue.

Any opinions on darco adhesive?

New floor in slideout

A while back I posted about my main slide out skipping and squealing as it came in and out. The resistance actually pulled one of the cable brackets loose from the slide out. Initial inspection showed apparent water damage and swelling in the slide floor. Estimates at a couple of camper dealerships were in the $3K-$4K range. Ouch. Not happening. I was finally ready today to pull the old floor I and was surprised at how easy it was. I'm kind of a DIY guy anyway, but I was admittedly apprehensive. Kind of a big job. I did not remove the slide out from the camper, the repair is happening with the slide out extended, jacked up about an inch, but fully in place. I was surprised by several things. First, that Keystone uses cheap 3/4" wafer board with no waterproofing at all for the slide floor. Second, that the amount of water damage was far worse than anticipated. Third, that the carpet was laid on the floor before it was attached (so it was under the slide walls), and finally, I was surprised to find that the ONLY thing holding my chubby self in that slide out is screws up through the the floor into the slide frame. The new floor is 1" thick plywood (I was able to special order a 10' long sheet of 3/4" so it's not spliced), with 1/4" plywood glued and nailed on top, then 2 coats of waterproof paint on both sides and all edges. I'll apply the new darco tomorrow and reattach the carpet (I guess) just the way it was, then put in the new floor. So...2 questions. I bought a heavy duty spray adhesive to attach the darco. Is this going to work or should I spread a thin layer of construction adhesive or something? The old darco was REALLY stuck to the old floor. I don't know what they use but it's good stuff. My other question is whether I should run the carpet under the walls like it was from the factory, or should I install with tack strips like in a house?

RE: Big problem with my 2015 Fuzion

I have repaired the bracket and was able to get the slide all the way out, back in, and out again. But it’s making squealing noises it’s never made before.

RE: Big problem with my 2015 Fuzion

Check the slide floor underneath for sagging or soft spots. Sounds similar to what I experienced on my 2014 Fuzion. Seems they put different floors in the kitchen and main slides. Curious, does the entire slide have to come out to replace the floor? I assume it does?

RE: Big problem with my 2015 Fuzion

Did the cable pull out or break as the break is cmon if they are not adjusted right which tells in your owners manual its up to the operater to make sure the ends stay aligned true to the holes so not to pinch the cables when the slide is closed The cable itself is fine but the bracket was torn loose from the slide.

RE: Big problem with my 2015 Fuzion

Doing some late night research on the cable slide systems. Maybe it isn’t a swelling/binding issue at all but just cables out of adjustment to the point that the slide binds? It’s never given me trouble before though so I don’t know what to think.

Big problem with my 2015 Fuzion

Went to run out the main slideout when we were setting up today and it bound up, pulling one of the lower cable brackets loose from the slideout. Something has swelled to the point that it won’t go all the way out. I can’t tell if it’s the floor under the slide or the floor of the slideout itself. It’s within 6” of being fully out so we’re going to try to enjoy the weekend anyway but this sucks. Not going to be easy or cheap to repair. I have a couple of friends here with me to help push it back in when we leave on Sunday. Anyone ever experience something similar?
