RE: Travel Trailer Towing Recommendations

New Jeep Wagoneer is body on frame, rated for 10k towing. Available air suspension. Might be worth a look.

When pulling the teardrop with the Model Y are you seeing any noticeable range recovery from Regenerative Braking?

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

The piece of the puzzle missing at this time is a charging network and who’s going to pay for it. Frito in Modesto has their own so they have a plan of where they’ll use the trucks. I haven’t heard of anyone else besides Tesla at GF1 yet.
Besides Nikola don’t forget Freightliner is building E Cascadia and a mid size as well.

RE: Why not diesel electric trucks?

or toss the batteries and use resisters to absorb the regenerative braking power & reject it as heat.
This is exactly what locomotives do, besides the wheel brakes on the cars.

RE: Dodge all in on electric too 500 mile range Ram

Correct me if wrong, but the existing infrastructure at sites I’ve been at is either 30A 120V or 50A 120V. There’s just not enough power there to get a large overnight charge.

RE: Rivian vs Tundra Tow Test

No one even mentioned that you can always make your own EV fuel with solar on the roof of your house. Pretty hard to drill an oil well and put up a refinery in your back yard.
So add an extra $10-20k to the cost for a rooftop system capable of generating 20-30kwh per day...oops, the truck is parked at work during the day, so you need a really long extension cord.
Not so easy or cheap for a typical user to use solar to charge the truck.
Exactly, and please don’t say my Powerwall will charge it at night. I have neighbor who did the whole package, Solar roof, double Powerwall at 36kw capacity, Model 3. The problem is the car has a 78 kw battery iirc. That pesky math got in the way.
His home package was purchased prior to the price jump, it is one that ate Teslas lunch took 4 Tesla installers 6 weeks to do it. With incentives the house was 62k.
Forgot to add the roof was sold with an 11k daily output during peak sun days.

RE: Electric Chevy Silverado Debut

Living in NorCal, we’ve had an interesting change in Electricity billing. With the change to renewables based on solar what used to be off peak in the evening/ night is now peak price wise. I’ve read up on a large Mega pack project going in on the coast next to a older gas power plant at Moss Landing. Not sure the plant is or will be retired. During high use the batteries are only good for a couple hours.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Now, for local work it's a whole different story, I can see electric trucks beating diesels hands down for operating costs.I assume this local work will be the use case in virtually all circumstances for many years.
Pepsi has said that’s the plan for awhile now. They installed their own chargers in the facility in Modesto.

RE: Recall of 19/20 Ram Cummins 6.7 diesels

So I was doing some digging and is it correct that they have not gone back to the CP3 but actually switched to a symmetric cam CP4? The trouble pump was a Asymmetric cam CP4.

Actually Tesla got about 62 million from the County and of all things the School District to build at that site.

RE: 2021 Ford Bronco

The 2wd was called Twin I beam and the 4wd was Twin Traction beam. I had a 96 Crew cab 250 with a 460 for awhile. Iirc it used a Dana 50 pumpkin that was mounted and swung with one of the beams.

I have to agree with the second post on that thread, how do you break both tie rods? I just can’t see what on that obstacle could have caused that.

That’s interesting John, the 12 stall be me has only Tesla plugs. It’s also sat unuseable since Feb, I guess due to some supply chain issue. This is in Windsor CA. No pull throughs either.
