RE: Help - Bad Check valve? City water filled fresh tank

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE SUGGESTIONS! Ok, so I disconnected the city water, opened some faucets to drain / relieve pressure. Cleaned out the pump filter screen (it wasn't dirty at all, just a few grains...) then turned on the pump and ran some water. Side issue/ other issue: Don't know what causes the pump to make a loud clattering/hammering noise, but I remember this happened once before and if I remember correctly, I just opened the fill port cap and it went away (?) So this time I opened the water tank drain and let out about a gallon of water. Now the pump has returned to quiet operation. Perhaps when the tank is overfilled, some vaccum created? not enough air in the tank? I dunno... Anyway... I have now turned off the pump and turned the city water back on and now I wait to see if the tank overflows again.. Thanks for your help everyone. I will reply back if this works or not. Even if this works, I think I will add an outboard check valve because it sounds others have had this same problem.

Help - Bad Check valve? City water filled fresh tank

2019 Nash 23D Travel Trailer We arrived at camp last night and hooked up to city water. This morning, I went outside and noticed water dripping from my fresh water fill port. Prior to arrival, I had perhaps 15 gallons in the fresh water tank for travel. Now it is full to overflowing! So I assume, a check valve has failed - allowing water from the city water input to fill my tank? I know the water pump typically has a check valve built-in (Shurflo 4008) (?). Is there a second one? Would seem strange that TWO check valves would fail, but maybe there is not a standalone check valve - Not seeing anything between the hose coming from the tank and the pump, nor from the pump to the T into the PEX water lines. I shut off the city water and turned on the pump to pump out some water from the tank. The pump seems louder than normal and is making a loud vibration. Perhaps an indication of a stuck check valve that is only partially open? PS: Assuming I may need to replace the pump, what's the recommended latest/greatest? Also, would it be a good idea to install a dedicated check valve? (my popup had one). THANKS IN ADVANCE for any help. Will be out and about today, will check back in this evening.

RE: Strong urine smell in bathroom

Sounds like you may have identified the problem. As for tank treatment, we like Happy Campers.

RE: Solar panel and battery noise

Panels just produce raw DC power. The controller is the brain that regulates the voltage and current to perform battery charging. A good one is money well spent. Yours may be defective.

RE: Idaho 75 (Sawtooth Scenic Byway)

Thanks @SteveAE and @cptqueeg for the feedback. Finding lots of photos of rigs like mine camping along that route. We hope to spend a couple of nights in the Stanley / Redfish Lake area before continuing south.

Idaho 75 (Sawtooth Scenic Byway)

Considering this route on our return from Glacier NP in August: US 93 south from Kalispell, thru Missoula and south to Challis ID, then peel off on Idaho 75 thru Stanley and Ketchum and on south to Twin Falls. Towing a 25' travel trailer with a GMC Duramax. Not a nervous driver, have taken this rig all over the mountain west. Just wondering if this route is unsuitable for towing. Not finding any warnings but I'll throw it out to the knowledgeable forum members. Thanks in advance

RE: Why consider 12v fridge for boondocking?

Your camping in a RV, right? Your RV NEEDs a 12V battery for basic functions like powering the control board in your propane fridge, right? Your battery charge does not last a month, right? You must recharge the battery periodically anyways, right? Since you obviously must recharge the RV battery, you must have solar, gen and or a huge battery bank to last more than a long weekend, right? So, where is the "advantage" of a propane fridge if you already have a battery, must have a gen and or solar and recharge the battery daily or every couple of days? You need to get gas anyway, right? Why not just floor it off the line every time the light turns green? You are going to fill up sooner or later.

RE: Rv TV

The OP isn't asking advice about renting, they are asking about a TV. Answer - pretty much every TV made has USB inputs to which you can connect a Roku, Firestick, Chromecast, AppleTV etc, etc. Just find the size TV that fits the space and shop. As far as brands, really they're all the same.

RE: New Travel trailer

I just purchased a new Cougar 32BHS travel trailer, they say "half ton tow able" is that true? Yes it's true they say that. ;)

RE: Northwest coast of U.S.

I can recommend the Oregon state parks. We stayed in three coastal parks on our visit in September 2021, Fort Stevens, Washburn and Bullard Beach. Would return.

RE: Antelope Canyon

... there's the Wahweap area with a marina and campground, where one can rent a houseboat (at least you could pre-pandeminc) or other boats... You can still rent boats! And contrary to popular belief, there is water in the lake! RE: Grand Canyon

...I understand you can no longer drive into the north rim, park outside and ride a bus in? Have a good time Your statement is confusing. You can drive into the north rim. You can park outside. But to my knowledge, there is no bus or shuttle to take you in... (Nor has there ever been to my knowledge, but my experience does not extend back to 1957 ! :B )
