RE: service recommendation, cable slide mechanism

thank you, doug, that manual will be incredibly helpful, and ill just have to, when I make my calls, ill be more informed when I call these places to replace my cable. The last time I had it done, at wildwood lazydays, I think I finally found a teck that had a clue. It took them 2 days longer than anybody else had taken, but was going on having it done right. The cable hasn't snapped, but im simply gun shy from having it snap (and of course at the worst times) so wanted to locate a repair shop before I took the slide in. Thanks

service recommendation, cable slide mechanism

Hello, all, and hope everybody is safe and well in this 'trying' time....and thank you in advance for all the help and advice i'm sure to receive. I have a 2006 Monaco lapalma DP, with 2 slides. The slide in my bedroom operates on a gear that the slide goes in and out on, never been a problem. My problem lies in the slide in my living room, which is much larger than the B/R slide, and that is controlled by a cable mechanism. My problem is the cable. It has snapped at least 1/2 a dozen times over the life of the unit, and i've been going to the state of florida to get it repaired, but im hoping I could get some sort of recommendation for a service place somewhere between the Hudson valley in NY, where I am, and the state of Florida, where I end up going. Ive called places in Conn., for example, and told they exclusively work on xyz,(xyz not being Monaco) and maybe they could fit me in......, but I would really much rather have a reputable, nearby outfit I could go to. Any first hand recommendations would be HUGELY appreciated. Thanks again, and as always stay safe! Kevin

RE: Taking RV to FLA (west cost) to pick up mother in law

I'm a NYer, and the last couple of years, been looking to resettle in the state of florida. I have family there, and good, close friends that I take pleasure in going to see. Ive been snowbirding there the last 6 or so years, found a place to move, but it fell through. This season, I was unable to get down there for personal reasons, but left my RV down there to pick it back upo about now. Then coronavirus hit... This morning, I saw DeSantis on TV, and he said, 'if youre from NY, stay away, we don't want you.' I understand the sentiment, but I bet he sure loves our money. I understand the sentiment, and have been self quarantining in NY for about 3 weeks now. I'm chomping at the bit to get down there, and have cancelled 2 reservations so far to autotrain it down. Long story short, Im eventually gonna get down there and get my RV. and when I do, governor DeSantis will be very happy that me, and my money, will be out of his state. There are other states in the southeast that have very similar, or are trying to, implement tax advantages to retiring there. We are going to get through this. when the smoke clears, we'll get through it. That sentiment of 'us against them' is hurtful. If everybody did their part, and practiced what they're being told to do, I'd like to think we wouldn't be in a fix, the scale we're in. Just had to vent....

RE: Towing through New York City

That's correct, I was putting you on the garden state further south, but 95 to 80 works as well. Have a safe trip! **edit** the tappan zee bridge signs probably say mario cuomo bridge. tax and spend Andrew named the bridge, at taxpayers expense, after his old man.

RE: Towing through New York City

The cross Bronx is an absolute horror show. Tractor trailers everywhere, cars, trucks, and taxis that absolutely don't give a hoot about you and your trailer wanting to get over. You putting your directional on to change lanes is the signal to other drivers to speed up and not let you in. I don't know when you plan this trip, but I would avoid nyc, unless that's your destination, like the corona virus. What I would suggest,is, and this is assuming youre taking I78 to I95, would be to stay on I78 past 95, and take that to the Garden State Parkway, (toll road). Take that to the end, which is the NYS thruway (I87/287) and take that east to the Tappan Zee Bridge. When you cross the bridge, you want to work your way to the left lanes, because 87 and 287 split, and you want to be on 287. tTake 287 to the end, and pick up 95 north. Your truck and trailer will thank you. Kevin

RE: Penguin 2 multi zone setup help

txbeerman, I feel your pain..... everybody I spoke to said, 'oh, its easy, the toughest part is getting the ac on the roof'. That was the easiest part, I have wires dangling from the front and rear ac's,1/2 a dozen parts I was told I needed and didn't, and waiting on parts I needed but didn't get....AAAAAARRRRGGGG! Had to vent.

RE: Penguin 2 multi zone setup help

Txbeerman, welcome to the site. Its a great source for help. I am at this very moment in the throes of the very same quandary as you, although I have been able to get part numbers from dometic, it just takes forever on the phone. here is what I have.....2 dometic duotherm ac's on the roof, model 630035331....both have heat pumps...both 14 years old....13.5K a duotherm 5 button thermostat the same identical control box on both of my ac's as you, 3109226.005 I replaced the front ac with ac model 651816c, 15k. (IM assuming yours is 13.5) My difficulty was I also bought a control box to 'smarten up' my old ac to be recognized by the new 10 button thermostat. My new ac worked no problem with the new setup, but my old ac, cannot and will not, under any circumstance, according to dometic, be compatible with the 10 button new thermostat. I am right now in the midst of having ordered a control box for my new a/c, model 3313107.107, to dumb down my new ac, to work my new ac, on the old duotherm 5 button, unless I want to run with 2 thermostats and then have to play with the toggle switch settings. As far as what wires connect to what wires, I'm electrically illiterate, but had a buddy do that end of the project for me. Im going to hold on to my new 10 button, and ultimately, when I have to replace my back a/c, ill be able to run both off the 1 tstat, and remove the control box from the front a/c..... Hope that makes some sort of sense, if not, feel free to PM me, and ill try to take pictures, and send them.... Best of luck, and again, welcome.
