RE: College Football Is Just Around The Corner, Can't Wait!

The "Committee" has spoken! #1 Alabama vs #4 Cincinnati #2 Michigan vs #3 Georgia Notre Dame and Ohio State in the New Year's 6 somewhere.

Utah. They beat Oregon for the Pac 12 title, Oregon beat Ohio State. I think Utah earned a seat at the table. Until a better playoff system comes along, the whole scheme is as subjective as judging the Westminster Dog Show.

RE: College Football Is Just Around The Corner, Can't Wait!

Notre Dame won the Cupcake Conference title. Unless and until they affiliate with a Conference or add a few conference powerhouses to their schedule if they wish to remain an "indie", hard to take them seriously. ND will get a New Year's 6 bowl invite but me thinks it's a real stretch to see them in the Championship 4. Match them up with Georgia in the Peach Bowl. That would be must see TV for me.

RE: College Football Is Just Around The Corner, Can't Wait!

My vote for the championship 4: Alabama, Michigan, Cincinnati, & Utah. They all won their conference titles. Georgia had a great season but lost the one game they couldn't afford to lose. The playoff selection committee can't ignore Cincinnati like they did UCF 4 years ago. Bearcats look pretty legit and I believe they could hold their own against the perceived Big Boys.

RE: Larson wins

A Jimmie Johnson season, and no doubt satisfying to Mr. Hendrick. B2B championships and a pretty decent season across all 4 teams. Feels like old times. :)

RE: Nascar Follies

Cloud: I'll take a swing at it. Bowman, like Hamlin was racing for the win. Bowman drove his car hard in the turn, hot brakes, hot/worn tires, too much speed, couldn't hold his line and got into the 11. How'd I do? :)

RE: Nascar Follies

Watched none of Martinsville except the last 15 laps; it was enough. I know little of these cars, but do understand front brakes play a HUGE role facilitating turns at Martinsville. Hamlin, and especially Bowman were going at it hammer and tong, brakes getting used up, tires getting used up, it was bound to happen. And certainly didn't happen the way Hamlin told it; just 2 guys racing hard for the win. Here's hoping NASCAR lightens Denny's wallet and his driver points some for his toddler antics. When you antagonize the "hometown" crowd like he did, he knows his argument was pure, unadulterated balony!

RE: Windows license scam

Blocking numbers CAN help. I regularly block numbers on my land line. My landline frequently displays the message "Blocked call" in the caller ID section. One of the numbers that I had already blocked tried again. If it was blocked because of the call screening, it just displays "Missed call." ^^ This. I also pay Verizon monthly for use of their Call Filter app. Not the most effective out there vs T Mobile's or AT&T from what I've read, but it's definitely made a difference in the volume of garbage calls I receive.

RE: Windows license scam

These guys are scummy enough, but my real anger is toward those who call up and try to convince seniors that their Medicare needs "activating" or they need a new card. Special place in Hades for those dirtballs. My Social Security & Medicare "accounts" have been suspended 3x this year for "fraudulent activity" and warrants have been sworn for my arrest. Laugh, hang up, block number, laugh some more. Wash, rinse, repeat. :B

RE: Tampa RV Show

Thanks to all for your help. I just booked a room at the LaQuinta right across the street from the fairgrounds. Looking forward to it. And don't forget the Seminole Tribe will be more than happy to lighten your wallet at the Hard Rock. :)

RE: Request Prayers

What was the fall Height? Did your wifes'head strike an unyielding surface like concrete resulting in soft tissue injury bleeding or altered level of consciousness? Does she take any bloodthinner meds? They can be a factor in closed head trauma bleeding. Could be simple as a scalp wound, concussion, or closed brain bleed, a potentially very serious injury. Hence my suggestion of transport by ambulance to a hospital with appropriate diagnostic resources and physicians to diagnose and treat.

RE: Request Prayers

Retired paramedic here. The urgent care facility made their diagnosis based on what? Is your wife's behavior significantly different than before her accident? What, if any physical symptoms is she displaying? Not a lot of detail provided, but I would suggest 911 call for an ambulance, transport to a hospital for evaluation where a doctor could order imaging such as a CT scan or MRI, tests I'm sure weren't available at an urgent care facility. Don't know where you are, but in Florida EMS personnel were covered by what was called the incapacitatd patient law. Simply put, if in the judgment of a paramedic or EMT a patient (based on history, behavior, symptoms, physical presentation) could be transported to a hospital for evaluation; not to be confused with laws addressing psychiatric or mental health crisis.

Alligators also enjoy a dip in backyard pools and even the occasional visit to Cocoa Beach to frolic in the surf. :)

RE: Trekkers Alert: If you're a Star Trek fan...

For The Hardcore Trekkies A full ship (4000 passenger) charter.........and it's sold out. Wife and I booked a quick 4 day trip to the Bahamas in February and were puzzled why the same ship wasn't doing a regular revenue cruise in late February. My God, the Romulans & Vulcans seized it! :B

Cannibalism has nothing to do with the size of the gator population, they can and do dine on one another. The problem in Florida is development keeps edging into gator habitat, much like frequent bear sitings in the area I live in, 3 miles from Wekiva State Park/Forest, surrounded by residential development. The bears didn't get the memo either.....

RE: New shore service tripled energy bill

Wonder if: The OP's electric utility uses "smart meters"? If so, is the meter working correctly? 300-400 KWH per billing cycle? How do you do it?? :)

RE: I-40 bridge to memphis

According to media and the TN DOT website, the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi was fully reopened August 2nd. A scan of the interwebs found nothing to the contrary.

RE: Coal-Rolling Teen Pickup Truck Driver Hits Six Cyclists

Be grateful you're not a cyclist (or pedestrian) in Florida. They both get struck and left for dead.....a lot.
