RE: Nascar Follies

When NASCAR put Steve O'Donnell on TV to "explain" their process, that was a televised admission they screwed up. Kyle was PO'd and I don't blame him, and rather enjoyed him trying to spin out the pace car. Every other driver in the field involved in that "WWE Moment" should be angry as well. The race should never have started.

RE: Phone went dark!

Bought our S10's almost 2 years ago. Rembering 4 years earlier when we got Moto Droids from Verizon. It was like a surgical procedure transferring stuff from old phones to new, and the Verizon employee had to do it in the store. Now, you take the phone home, turn it on, follow the screen prompts and you're done. Obviously the phone is backed up on a Google cloud somewhere, I was in awe of it all. :)

RE: Phone went dark!

I'm puzzled. An Android phone needs a Google account. On my third Android phone in 10 years or so. Haven't lost contacts, photos, nothing. It's all been wherever Google keeps it and has downloaded to every new phone without skipping a beat. What am I missing?

RE: This may not be good news for full timers

Well, that article is labeled as an opinion piece; and maybe not factual. The pictures of dismantled cruise ships looks more than a little photo shopped. Air travel? I have a nephew that's a first officer for Delta. He came back from a 5 month air national guard deployment to the Middle East wondering if he'd still have a job. He's flying his maximum hours monthly now. And cruise travel? My wife and I booked a Western Caribbean cruise (bucket list thing for me) in April 2023. Wanted to go in 2022 but the suites (and most of the ship) was booked on the line/vessel we chose. Maybe he's just pumping the RV industry?

RE: Windows 11 compatibility Check up for your PC or laptop

I'm going back to Windows 3.1. That will teach 'em. Really liked W7 and XP. I understand W10 life expires in 2025 so I shall see who outlives who. XP was the bomb when my employer entered the computer age. 7 was the last good version. Not much love from me for 10. I don't want my desktop looking like a cellphone. Already being e-mail blasted by MS about 11. I'll wait til the announcement they no longer support 10.

RE: SPAM-alama-dingdong

Spam is nothing like pork roll. I like spam, but eat pork roll a lot. Scapple is another good processed meat thing. As for recipes try a spam cassarole, lol, cheese a few eggs , milk , add some onions cube and fry up the spam, toss with a fozen bag of tator tots and bake for like 45 mins at 350. Its good. But you can't eat it every day. OMG!!! Scrapple, hopefully with fried cornmeal mush maple syrup & a couple of fried eggs. Used to be able to get scrapple at Publix supermarkets in Florida, but alas, no more. Same with cornmeal mush; polenta is as close as they get now, but not quite the same.

RE: How old is too old?

Do what you can until you can’t. Amen to that. None of us knows when our rev limiter will kick in. Recognition, acknowledgement, and acceptance is the tough part. I'm late sixties, had cataract surgery and lense implants in 2019. Surgery was a technical success, but left me with real bad glare issues from headlights of oncoming cars driving at night. So, I quit driving at night. Better that than be a hazard to myself, my wife, & others on the road.

RE: SPAM-alama-dingdong

Hey the stuff powered a generation and troops through World War II. One of the few things my late dad would talk about was how grateful he was for Spam when it was available in a combat zone. I simply like it; a utility item in the pantry like onions or potatoes. Always one can on hand except during the pandemic shortage when you couldn't find it on a store shelf anywhere.

RE: SPAM-alama-dingdong

Fried Spam, fried eggs (over easy), hash browns or grits, & toast. Grilled Spam & cheese with some sliced onion if you please. Stir fry Spam and vegetables over rice. Such a versatile food........

RE: Nascar Follies

The ultimate Golden horse shoe. How do you get a high horsepower car up to speed with only 4th gear and not get run over on restarts????? I believe him when he said the clutch was fried but man that's a wheelman there......

RE: Texas Drivers License Hassle

Why I made the suggestion to have the Congressional office lean on Social Security. When trying to sift through my dad's issues I had the information I needed from Medicare in less than 3 weeks after my Congressman's office got involved.

RE: Texas Drivers License Hassle

Have you considered contacting the constituent services of the US Congress person that represents you in your current location? They can be quite effective as I learned 20 years ago when my dad died. Help with untangling a Medicare billing morass and help with his interment in a national cemetery. His service records were destroyed in a fire in St Louis in 1967. VA wouldn't play ball with the funeral director even after I located Dad's copy of his DD-214. Many Congressional offices are quite effective shoveling through bureaucratic manure.

RE: Looks like electric trucks and RVs may be delayed...

Not all of Lordstown Motors' orders or purchase commitments were bogus. The city of Orlando entered into an agreement with Lordstown to purchase 600 of their pickups for use in various city departments when production began. Don't know if any money changed hands. But seems like the F-150 hybrid or all electric would be a better fit with their rolling power supply capabilities.

RE: Looks like electric trucks and RVs may be delayed...

Back to the OP'S point. Rivian, Nikola, & now Lordstown Motors are under a cloud of suspicion. And SPAC'S? Just another game in the Wall Street "casino". And can't forget were it not for selling carbon credits, Tesla wouldn't be profitable. Have read more than one story that Tesla's capital burn is unsustainable, more so since their high margin vehicles (S & X) are not selling as well as they were since introduction of the Model 3 & Y. The Legacy 3 and foreign automakers may have been late to the party but they may well be the EV survivors when the dust settles.
