RE: Why did my water pump stop pumping?

So, I filled the FW tank when I got home and turned on the pump and let it run with the sink faucet on. It took a couple of minutes but sure enough, it starting spitting water and air. I turned every sink, shower and activated the flush valve until all stopped sputtering. Strange thing was, the pump never completely shut off. It slowed to a VERY slow “idle” but kept turning. Then, it stopped completely and now won’t come back on. I think I toasted it but haven’t checked the fuse yet.

RE: Why did my water pump stop pumping?

On my shurflo 4008 pump the problem was a stuck pressure valve under the diaphragm. There was a You tube video on how to fix it by a channel by the name "Why Wait" Yes, someone posted that link and I believe that’s the only thing that could have happened. It’s going to be one heck of a challenge to get the pump out but it’s got to be done. I’ll update my findings when it’s working again. Thanks for all the replies! TD

Is there a valve in the wrong position (or not quite all the way in the correct position)? Drain valve? Winterizing valve? Bypass valve? Water heater valves? Nope. We stopped and used the pump on the way to our campsite.

RE: Why did my water pump stop pumping?

Yup if you have plenty of water and there is a crack in the inlet side of the pump or the hose feeding it.. It can suck air once the water level drops below the level of the pump.. Many forget to empty the inlet strainer in the fall. There may be a shut off valve. The outlet strainer on the tank can clog (inlet strainers almost never clog because they are secondary to the outlet but .. it's not impossible) Pump can fail in assorted ways. And last... Did you VISUALLY verify water in the tank or trust the @Q#$#@ sensor panel? Just pulled the dump valve on the FW tank. PLENTY of water coming out. I’m draining it for the trip tomorrow.

Forget the photos. They are only on my phone.

Wait until I upload a picture of where the pump is located. I’m going to need to cut an access hole or drop the power panel to get to it.

check fuse. if your reading the empty/full gauge? they are not very good at telling the true water left in the tank. Pump runs but doesn’t pump.

How old? What make and model of pump? Camper is 2 years old. I looked at the pump but I’ll have to get the make and model later today.

RE: Why did my water pump stop pumping?

Pump is self priming. How did you verify the tank is full? I pulled the drain, let some of the water out and then refilled it. It’s full.

Why did my water pump stop pumping?

Hello! On the way to our campsite, we used the pump several times. Got all set up and turned on the pump and it runs but won’t pump. All fittingsare tight, tank is full but no water is pumping. Could it have lost its prime? Thanks TD

RE: Patching an enclose underbelly

Thanks everyone! The material is some sort of plastic center with black “fabric” on the outside. I forgot about eterna bond! That stuff is great and that’s what I’ll be using. Safe travels to all! TD

Patching an enclose underbelly

So, I pulled my rig in a massive rain storm and a few days later, I see water dripping from an opening in the underbelly material. I'm thinking leaky plumbing so, I make a slit in the material so I could take a look. No leak so I assume it got in there from the rain. So now I've made an unnecessary cut in my underbelly because there are NO accessible fasteners to open it. I've tried to you Gorilla tape to close it but it didn't stick. Any sugestions?

RE: Modifications

I installed the keyless entry door lock from RVlock.com. Finally got the TT out this last week and got to have real world use with the lock. Love it. We bike ride a lot and it's nice not to have to pack keys with us. Just enter our 4 digit code and push the lock button. We don't use the key fob much since it's so easy to use the key pad. It was a fairly easy install but kind of temperamental at times. For me it was about 30 mins to install. They go on sale various times during the year. Our doors open opposite of most so it took a long time watching sales before our style went on sale. We will hide a key somewhere since we have no idea how long the batteries last. That’s the one I’m buying. I’ve read a lot of good things about them. Thanks for your post. TD

RE: Modifications

Traildog, see my later post. I am using the Oxygenics again and like it. Got rid of the old, cheap, probably clooged, pressure reducer and replaced it with a new, adjustable model with a gauge. All better now. Ah…I missed that post! Glad it’s working out for you now!
