RE: Travel with Kill Switch Off

I found what I think is a loose ground wire. When I wiggle the step goes in and out even with door closed

RE: Travel with Kill Switch Off

I put a bright led on my dash next to the step switch that flashes in my face if my steps are down when starting to move. I used a set of magnet switches on the steps. Mine came out when I was driving down the road. That's the reason I'm wanting to use a kill switch on them ...

RE: Travel with Kill Switch Off

Battery disconnect is for storage only. If your worried about the steps put an inline switch at the motor. Or some convent place before the motor. Would that be the red wire?

RE: Travel with Kill Switch Off

ok thank you ..... I didn't think there was power to the fridge when you were driving ... only when on shore power ? or propane ? I pulled a trailer for 15 years .. this is my first year of a Class C so I'm still learning about it

Travel with Kill Switch Off

do any of you flip the kill switch for when you're driving down the road ? We got our step working again and I'm a little gun shy about it coming out while driving ... thought about using the kill switch ?

RE: RV Kwik Step Not coming IN

well after we got it working again and I drove it again (trying to get it to the Dodge dealer for the air bag recall) the step randomly came out again while driving and scraped the road. I wasn't far from home so drove it slowly and carefully home. It is completely dead now. I don't understand what made it extend while driving ?? I also found the part number underneath. 903109000 I can see replacing the motor if it's froze up, but does that remedy it extending the step while driving ?

RE: RV Kwik Step Not coming IN

PROBLEM SOLVED Hubby came home and cut the wire we had connected thinking it was a lose wire to the step light. As soon as I started the engine it tried to move. He had to straighten it some and I sprayed with with some white lithium grease. I thought I read some where that was good to use but I don't like it. I'll stop by my local Camping World and see if the have the Kwik Lube for the step thank you all for your responses ....

RE: RV Kwik Step Not coming IN

The swing arm of the motor which connects to the step is held in place with a round metal bar which has a cotter pin on the end .. remove the cotter pin and bar and the step can be moved manually. Sometimes rapping the motor will resolve problem with dead spot on the motor. Thank you !! That's what I'd need to know to do if I was out by myself.....

RE: RV Kwik Step Not coming IN

That wire is NOT connected to anything. It is for the OEM optional wall switch control for the step light. Odds are the motor has a dead spot. Open and close the door with the engine running. IF the under amber step light goes ON and OFF when opening and closing the door. the wiring and control are OK, You have a bad motor. Doug The amber step light was what we were initially trying to fix when we found the loose wire. It wasn't working in the first place.

RE: RV Kwik Step Not coming IN

More info needed to give a good answer. Does the step try to move at all? Can you hear the motor trying to move the step? Push comes to shove, you'll need to get under the step and remove the cotter key on the linkage so the step will move and then push it in and tie them up with a rope or bungie cord. it's not doing anything. I'm wondering .... we found a lose wire thinking it was to the under the step light that did not work. That didn't fix the light, nor trying a new bulb. Could it be that wire didn't go to the light and has overridden something? When hubby gets home he'll undo that wire since it worked before we connected it ?

RV Kwik Step Not coming IN

RE: Slide tilting question

PS: I've checked the inside to see if there is anything in the way and it's all clear. I often wondered if they had one of those slide stops ? in there for when you travel so the slide doesn't open, and they forgot to take it out before trying to open the slide. That might warp it ? They were included with the sale, but I've not used them. The guy that sold it to me didn't even know what the warning meant on the wall beside the slide button. I found them in a back cubby hole later.....

RE: Slide tilting question

I know when it's out, the awning is very tight. There is no droop. It was supposedly replaced by a previous owner, the year before I bought it, so it's not the original awning. I'll have to check from the outside and inside to see how vertical it is when the top stops and how tight the awning is if I bump the bottom back in. Thank you !

RE: Camping World about to go under??

Gemsworld.... stock can drop if they split it right ? My husband had stock in Yellow Freight and they did that several times. He didn't lose money. Instead of 10 shares at $20 he had 20 shares at $10...

Slide tilting question

My slide is just the jacknife sofa so it's not big and nothing really heavy. I don't notice it until I get ready for bed, which I use the sofa. It feels like the bed tilts toward the inside and the slant makes it hard to sleep. Could the awning over the slide out be too tight and not let it open all the way at the top? I can bump the bottom in to make it more level but not sure that's a good idea ... so what I'm saying is the bottom of the slide goes out further than the top. There is a small gap at the right top side but not the left. Are slides completely square ?
