RE: Wow is my truck fast. I bought it used so not bragging.

I've hit 110 mph easy with the camper on and a Hypertech programmer, becoming one with the wind...of a hurricane, on an empty stretch of road in SE Utah. Had it programmed to top out at 118 mph.

RE: Roof rack for a canoe

Yakima all the way, bars, and saddles for the front and back. 16 foot canoe curves over the a/c nicely. I now just use the two center straps for tie-downs. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj190/whazoo100/1st%20canoe%20trip/003.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj190/whazoo100/Mosquito%20Pass%20Colorado/0047.jpg Also use a boat loader slide-out bar for single loading. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj190/whazoo100/boatloader/IMG_5408.jpg

RE: Painting the Interior

Of course, primer first after using a sanding block or Scotchbrite on it to scuff. Hah, after 46 years as a painting contractor I still hear " to give it tooth." Then a couple coats of paint. I will say that Home Depot carries Rustoleoum brand of faux finish to give it a...wood look haha. I've done several residential cabinets with the stuff and it looks great. I have some to use on my camper cabinets but haven't done it yet. When I get the time I'll do it without any reservations. The old oak veneer is looking , well, old. "Without reservations", like you need a reservation to paint cabinets.

RE: Tribute to Livin' Lite or Camp Lite....whatever

When people say or write, its nothing personal, it usually is. Everyone jumps around in threads once in a while, and if I did while answering a question or having a "conversation" with someone, why does that require a snarky comment from the same forum members, time after time. Social commentary is a sign of the times, and does not always show the best side of people. Bye bye......thud Big time, and why so many good people have left rvnet, and now two more...

RE: Northstar campers

I'm in the black tank camp for the same reason as others, we can "go" 10 days or so without dumping. Or is it we can dump 10 days without going...to the dump station. We love to winter camp also but find most outhouses locked up for the off season, a cassette would need to go elsewhere. That means a long drive to a town or gas station. Also, with heated basement I've never had the black tank freeze but understand not all campers have the same features. I'd like to try a cassette for sure but not outright buy a camper with one before knowing for sure. It would be a cr_p shoot...

RE: How'd He Get That Boat Up There???

Weight police.... GO!!! That boat ain't that heavy and besides, that setup was way way before weight police existed, when people just adapted to situations without the fallout the internet provides! And all the people said Amen! I remember the day that wouldn't have brought a worry. Love the truck! Also, I can't see one in the pic but my friend Steve has one on his camper for the same type boat and I now have one on my box trailer for my 12 ft aluminum boat. A little electric motor that pulls the boat up and flips it to lay as you see it. It's pretty darn cool. I see some guide ropes attached to the camper that makes me think this is the same thing.

RE: Securing you rig from theft (truck and camper)

I prefer a Trunk Monkey myself. I’m sure there’s a Camper Monkey out there somewhere. Trunk Monkey

RE: Broken copper tube on AC, thanks to Dempster Hwy

It must just be bad luck. I have the same a/c as you on my Outfitter and it still works great after 11 years of off-roaring. Some things just can’t be explained right? Except by luck, good or bad and it sounds like you had both at the same time. So...good luck!

RE: Whazoo's Trip of a different color

I did find a PBS article regarding the The AHSR, looks like the San Manuel Tribe owns it now. Arrowhead Springs Resort Also a great video on the complete history of this amazing place. The hotel you talk about Whazoo is the 4th hotel on that property, all the previous ones burned down. Video Fabulous, thank you very much!! I was fortunate to have been involved in a tiny part of its history, and to have it as such a large part of mine. The diving boards were still at the pool when I swam there, long gone now, along with my ability to do a one and a half off the low board hah.

RE: Whazoo's Trip of a different color

Hi Grant! No we didn't stop at Manzanar since my priorities were elsewhere. If you've ever seen Bad Day At Black Rock with Spencer Tracy it was filmed very close by as well and the scenery does justice to what the Japanese had to live through in the desolation of the desert. We've driven by it so many times before it became a historical site that we don't even think of it until we see a guard tower, then think of the sad day it was in the life of our country. It would definitely be a good stop though and I should have before now, especially having lived with the Japanese people off base for two of the four years we were in Japan. Thanks Grant, I sure hope your Labs are doing great!!

RE: Whazoo's Trip of a different color

Hi Cal, Yes I thought driving was a better deal yet for some reason my left sciatic nerve really went ballistic. Thank goodness for cruise control, I sat sideways the whole trip. No problems now though thankfully. Thanks Cal!! "As always Dave, you get out and tell us the most amazing tales." Thank you Mike, you always give the most amazing replies, I'm always appreciative. "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality" I like it Bob and wish I had said it. Hola Patrick, I sure as heck always enjoy your response and thank you for every one. Howdy Mr. Phelps, I sure enjoyed making that one because of the personal history and am happy you liked it! Hi Ya Crazy Creek, A big thank you and hope you're getting plenty of camping and boating in, if I remember correctly lol. Joerg! Well I figure to have tortured you enough with trip reports and doubt I'd want to with a book, but you never know. Thank you Joerg... Hi Ben, Tagging the bases, sounds like a military joke Ben. But no kidding, it's fun to use the camper as a time machine and I hope to do it again soon. Thank you Ben, catch you later Thanks a bunch there Raystar, it was fun trio for sure sljohnson, Well if you did happen to read all of it I'd think you to be the first. Personally I just look at the pictures but thank you very much Tiger! You moved inland? Well so maybe I've piqued your interest in the Arrowhead, you can see it from almost anywhere in the valley. Hope you're well Sir. Hey Terry, No kidding an 8 state trip! When I do these trip reports I know for a fact I do little compared to others and nothing compared to you. Your trips would take me a lifetime to make a TR from and I can't begin to imagine them. I did stay one night in the Northern Swell last year and remembered you saying I wouldn't be too impressed. Well I sure liked what I saw and hope to make it back this winter. I even missed the best parts and still liked it! See ya Terry, thanks. 996Pilot, Hi Dan! So don't look too long up here, prices are doing what they've done elsewhere and good deals are going fast. And yes I do like the drive up 395 to 95 for scenery and old haunts. We used to sand buggy a lot of places along the way and could still see ourselves running the dirt. I don't find the roads all that desolate and I'm sure you'd enjoy them as well. Overall it is not a scenic drive though unless you like open desert and uncrowded roads lol. Thanks you guys, you've always treated me well here at rv.net and I always wished to know you all personally, this is the best fun. So long for now!

RE: Prolific Australian TC builder

Very nice. I've always liked the clean 'Euro' look anyway. I especially like the outfit in your third picture, first post. Nice, go anywhere outfit. I was in Europe recently and one of the ideas that I liked best was the cabinet over the sink did not have a solid bottom, just a wire drain rack so that you could was dishes and immediately put them in the cabinet. I still haven't figured out how to use the bidet's that are so common. I am not ready to adopt all of their ideas. Bidet? I thought it was a drinking fountain in the bathroom. Geez... BTW I think they're really cool, the campers I mean. I suddenly had this vision of Paul Hogan yelling "It's for washing your bum" out of a hotel window. And a surprised Whazoo looking up with water dripping from chin going "Wait, what?"

RE: Product to clean interior softwall on Outfitter Camper

Maybe a concoction with a little Bleach All in it. Hydrogen peroxide in it? Hey, I have an Outfitter! Guess I'll try something. My usual solution, lol, (solution=joke) is to have Outfitter replace my softwall, true story and a lot of work for them and money for me.
