RE: old diesel fuel in tank

Algae, I have read, only grows when water is in the tank. It grows at the water/fuel interface. No water in tank, no need for biocide. Water in tank, the tank should be drained and cleaned, then filled with fuel, and all fuel filters replaced. Correct. But (OK large BUT) the original post said the tank was stored HALF FULL for two years. Very likely there has been enough condensation to provide the water necessary for microbe growth. Storing with a full tank reduces condensation.

RE: Bubbles on the side of his RV

I would use a good two part epoxy as the "adhesive", not foam.

RE: old diesel fuel in tank

Biocide is something like Biobar JF.

RE: Alaska Sept 2022

I think everyone here is wondering how many cruise ships will make a stop in Canada if they don't have to! Doubt anyone who has visited either Vancouver or Victoria would question why the cruise ships stop there. Yes, part of it is legal requirement, but those are two very delightful destinations. Would hate to see them removed from the itineraries.

RE: Best Cleanser for Condenser Cleaning for AC?

Any box store will have aluminum-friendly condenser/evaporator cleaner. Rinse with fresh water.

Toe and caster both affect tracking.

So, do you know the "root cause" of the failure?

RE: 2011 Tiffin Phaeton no hydraulics....Help!!!

Check relay at the pump and connections including ground to it.

RE: Replacing 50A Electric Cord

It depends on the configuration of your shore power cord. The male end is standard. The coach end is where there are differences. Some are hardwired in, some use a receptacle-- there are several different ones. Tell us what the coach end of your cord looks like.

RE: Engine blew white smoke died then generator

The 12V grid heater which heats the intake air is automatic. The 120V block heater is manual and can take many hours to warm a engine and mine does plug in while some can be activated for the cab. Yup, two unrelated items.

RE: Engine blew white smoke died then generator

Another option, particularly if you are near a marine area is to have a FUEL POLISHER clean the tank. Very effective at removing most of the water and algae. Also, add a biocide such as BIOBAR JF. Running on restricted fuel flow CAN damage your fuel injection system as well as cause performance issues.

Tom, Have you checked with your chassis maker?

RE: Itasca Horizon home style AC

Assume you are referring to BASEMENT AIR. A reasonable system, but long out of production.

RE: New TIP

Wow, some puzzling replies. Since this is on the MEXICO section, a TIP is a Temporary Vehicle Importation Permit: https://www.mexpro.com/mexico/vehicle-import-permit.html Sorry, I don't have an answer to the OP's question, but it IS a very reasonable one.

RE: BATTERIES PLUS BULBS

Guessing so, it's called the GEL setting. So, your Caddy has a special setting for AGM batteries. NO. Charging algorithms for AGM batteries are very close to those for wet cell batteries, NOT gel batteries. And, if you don't have the optional battery temperature sensor for your inverter/charger, you will need to re-program it as seasons change. Said another way, a fully charged battery in below freezing conditions will be very unhappy at 90 degrees F (and visa versa).

RE: Breaks and 12V system

For voltage to go from "good" (i.e. over 12.8 VDC)to so low that neither the engine nor the electric brake boost would work doesn't sound like an alternator to me. That assumes you were monitoring voltage. More likely, there was a connection/fuse issue near the chassis battery. That would be more likely to result in voltage going from OK to doesn't work at all. More insight on whether this WAS a sudden loss of 12 VDC or a gradual loss until voltage got so low that nothing running on 12 VDC would work would be enlightening.

RE: Norcold "C" code

What does your digital voltmeter read at the battery when this happens? At the connections at the back (outside) of the refrigerator when this happens?

RE: Electrical help adapter do/don't

Yup, with a 30 amp RV, the following adapters are a good idea, ALONG with the knowledge to know how that limits your use of 120 VAC electrical loads: 15 male to 30 female adapter-- limits max 120 VAC load to 15 amps. 50 amp male to 30 amp female-- the 30 amp breaker in your RV still limits your max 120 VAC load to 30 amps.

RE: 50 Amp plugging into 30 amp service

I installed a separate circuit with 2x 20A plugs and with an extension cord can plug into a 20A pedestal plug along with the 30A pedestal plug. ie I have 30+20A available (3600+2400W) vs a 50A pedestal (12000W). The extra circuit is primarly used for 2x ceramic heaters when it's cool. Though there ARE some "work arounds" for those who are really electrically savvy, I don't see this as good advice for what the OP said: "My kids, new to RVing.... " A standard 30 amp male to 50 amp female is the "short answer".

RE: 50 Amp plugging into 30 amp service

They will just need the very standard 30 amp male to 50 amp female adapter.
