RE: Let's talk air bags...

2020 F350 SRW 2020 AF865 4200/11,200# mildly loaded. I installed bags when I first got the truck, ran them at about 60# to keep the truck level, ok but not great. Then I installed 2" bumper blocks to get the overload spring to engage earlier, they would not engage in stock form with the camper on even with zero pressure in the bags. Now with the blocks, with 20# of air, the overloads are engaged, and the bags are helping to keep the truck level, rides great with OE shocks, which I will change out someday.

RE: I want to run a microwave on an inverter

If you regularly use that kind of power and don’t have a recharging source like a generator or solar, you likely won’t get them recharged while towing. The generator is still the way to go. Not true if you are using a DC-DC charger ! I suspect if he had the knowledge and skills to install a DC-DC charger, he wouldn't be asking this question. A DC-DC charger is not a stock item. Actually I do have the knowledge and skill to run a DC-DC charging system, been around the horn more than once. My only question was others experience on running a microwave for a couple minutes on an inverter, as I haven't done the math on it. I use very little battery power to begin with, all LED lights, run the furnace for 10 minutes in the morning on a cold day, 12V TV and a DVD player which pull less than 2.5 amps together. Thanks for the responses.

RE: I want to run a microwave on an inverter

I have 2 Group 27s deep cycle. Looking like this may be more than I thought just to run it for 5-7 minutes?

I want to run a microwave on an inverter

I have an AF 865 camper. I want to be able to run the microwave, 900W, power demand shown to be 1350W, on an inverter for a short period of time, just warming stuff up. This would allow us to not carry the Honda 2200 with us when gone. We move around a fair amount so I should be able to keep the batteries charged. My question is what would you recommend for an inverter size, and if using the microwave for say 10 minutes, do you see a huge battery drain? Thoughts or ideas please. Thank you, Pat

RE: Buying a new TC

I have a 2020 F350 4X4 SRW with an AF865. It has an 11,300 GVWR, the camper wet is about 4200#. I am over the GVWR by a few hundred pounds, but well within the axle ratings. I changed the tires to 4080# rated Coopers and feel I am good to go. As everyone has said, drive it first. I have added a Helliwig BigWig sway bar which was a huge improvement, and Firestone air bags to level it to keep the headlights out of others eyes. I am still experimenting, the overloads do not contact the bumpers even with the camper on, so I have added 2" bumpers to get the overloads to work. Taking it out this weekend so we will see.

RE: Anyone making a reliable new truck now?

Ford still building the 6.2 gas now with a ten speed tranny. Proven engine, been around quite a while now. More than enough for any TC hauling. I have a 2020 F350, 6.2 4X4, and haul an AF865 camper, 4200# wet. Been all over the West, up and down, it shifts around alot with the 10 speed, but pulls it everywhere I have wanted to go.

RE: Adventurer 901sb

BTW the AF 865 has way more storage than ant of the other non slide campers. Ours is on a F350 SC, not a crew cab.

RE: Adventurer 901sb

We have an AF865 on a SRW F350 and love the mid bath and the view out the back. Heavy, yes, but it drives fine. This is our 3rd camper. I highly recommend the AF, very well built.
