We need a little help. Over the weekend, we saw some people playing a game that uses PVC pipe to make three different level "rungs" and what looks like golf balls on a string. Some were using tennis balls. You would stand a distance away and toss the balls at the rungs and then you would score according to which rung they stayed on. We're curious about this game but have no clue what's it called or how to play. Help?!?

The game is most commonly called "ladder golf." If you do a search of the forums for that there are lots of posts about it. It is a blast and can be built quite easily using PVC from your local home center.

I recently saw that game sold online... but can't remember where. I would bet it was a link through this forum.

I went through those search results and the one posting that had the plans to make the game had an invalid link so... I posted the plans to build the game on my web site.

As someone said, you can buy the game from various companies but for $10.00 worth of PVC, some golfballs and rope you can do it yourself.

Rules? Rules? Who needs rules? [emoticon]

I have posted those seperately to my site and and added them to the assembly instructions for those that want everything "all in one."

Ladder golf rules.
Construction and rules.

I should say that there are a bunch of different rules out there as well - I think everyone plays it just a little bit differently.

For those that don't want to build their own, you can buy them online at a few places:

No problem at all for posting them. I can't take credit for the plans though - I got them a while back from somewhere (heck, it might of been on here).

Enjoy!

I made a quick version a few weeks ago for a church campout. I used tennis balls instead of golf balls (less damage to the kids heads), but haven't figured out a good way to keep the tennis balls attached.

The kids loved it, but they also just loved haveing balls they could throw at each other.

To tie tennis balls together:

1) Drill two holes in opposite sides of the tennis ball.

2) Make a needle out of a 10" long piece of coat hanger by bending a loop into one end. Thread 1/4" nylon rope through both holes.

3) Tie the end of the rope around a 2 1/2" long piece of coat hanger.

4) Push knot and hanger piece into the ball, pull tight.

Thanks to everyone who posted. Now that we know what it is called and have the instructions on how to build and keep score (thanks to taba for these), we'll be set for our next trip. We're also in the process of making our cornhole game. I've gotta finish closing up the last four bags and dh has to paint the boards.
Thanks again to all,
