Hi there all you dog lovers out there! Let's get going on a list of dog-friendly places to eat. I'll start with the first entry: Ruth and Wimpy's on US Rt. 1 in Hancock, Maine. Can't take 'em inside, of course, but well-behaved dogs are welcome in their patio dining area. When they brought our drinks, they also brought the dog a bowl of water. [emoticon] The food's good, too. Nice burgers, clam baskets, etc. Health food, NOT. [emoticon]

Poogans Porch in the historic district of Charleston, SC. They let you eat with your dog on the porch - excellent food!

I believe the original poster is trying to get a list of restaurants started, not pro/con comments.

We've had a very easy time bringing our dog to terraces in Ontario. So far, we've only been refused once.

Overall, the city of Kingston gets our vote. It would be unfair to single any restaurant/hotel/retail store as our dog was welcomed everywhere during a 3day visit a couple of summers ago. We even took her on a Thousand-Islands 3hr cruise (with lifejacket - hers).

cheers,

Obviously, these towns do not have a "Board of Health". Good to know so I can avoid eating at any establishment in these places.

I lived in Europe for 4 years and it was not uncommon to see someone with a well behaved pooch in an eating establishment. Heck, some of the dogs were better behaved than the American kids!

I see nothing wrong with it, providing they don't make noise, a mess or beg for food from their owners or other folks

Ok as long as its outside and the dog is well behaved. Its like being in a park at a picnic table with the dog.

Oh, this would be a really long list. You might be amazed at how many restaurants allow dogs at their outside seating. Many of them are listed in either the online or book form digests.

My personal favorite is the Forge (or something like that) in Carmel, CA. There is a separate area for dogs. When the waiter asked for my order and then said, "and for him?" I knew I was in the right place. It is a good thing that Orson cannot order, or he would have chosen a big steak. He was happy with the hot dog.

And there is this place in Bangor ...

Exactly [emoticon]

I've never ever been around places like these but I think it would be great fun...

Anyone know of any in Texas???

The local brewpub on "our lake" at the seasonal site. On the deck waitresses have to take time to stop and pet "The boys." The boys, for their part, really like the beer fries!

At the Lake of the Ozarks there is a place called "Time Out " sports bar & grill. It's right on the lake and most people arrive in their boats and use the restaurant dock slips. Several times I have seen people with dogs at the outside tables on the deck overlooking the lake.
