My in-laws are responsible for getting us into camping. I have listened to all of their advice and most of it makes sense but this one.

They said to never ever use the potty for anything other than #1.
They always stay in RV parks so public bathrooms are plentiful.

Now I just paid out a tidy sum of money for my trailer. Why can't I.....er......ah....."you know",.... in it? Isn't that what the potty is made for? [emoticon]

IMO, that is just their opinion. I guess they don't like the idea of handling anything with black stuff in it. Most of us are like you, use it for what it was designed for.

My step dad was the same way with their pop up. It had a shower and a
cassette porti potty. Didn't want to use the shower because it might
leak. Well I might have a caulk gun too. If I"m making payments on
my rig, I"m gonna shower, poop, run naked up and down the trailer and
do as I please. I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't use it other
than having to deal with emptying it when you leave, welcome to camping 101

Tell them you bought the trailer so you could have your very own potty and do not want to use a disease/crab ladden public washroom.

Use it for what it is for!!!! I have heard of rv'ers that don't flush paper . They put it in the trash, gross!.I bought my trailer so I did not have to use the public facilities.

That's ridiculous! I have my self contained fifth wheel so that I DON'T have to use public restrooms. Look into the tank flushing tools that are out there. When using full hookups, don't leave the black tank valve open, otherwise you get a pile of stuff just below the toilet. you want to use biodegradable tank chemicals in there and keep fluid in the tank to help digest this. When you need to empty the tank, then you use a flushing device to clean the "stuff" out of the tank. I use a clear flush attachment that allows fresh water to spray up the sewer drain. I also have a tank flusher that is mounted in the tank from Camping World that you attach the hose to and it rinses the inside of the tank. If you really need to clean the tank, you fill the tank one quarter full and then dump a bunch of ice cubes down the toiled and go for a drive with lots of turns to swish the cubes around. This will break up the gunk and then the cubes melt and drain out.
Enjoy your Throne!

They use it for #1 but not #2? [emoticon] ([emoticon]) I know a few folks like that and a couple others that never use their ovens.

To each his own. Me, after cooking a pot of beans and baking cornbread in the oven, You can bet I'll use the potty in my rig.

Let me guess...they have plastic runners on the carpet, vinyl covers on the furniture, plastic covers on the mattress, and don't allow fried foods to be cooked in the rv either...do they have a living room at home that you can't go into? Sounds like my grandparents!
