I removed my store bought truck bed and had a new one fabricated. I used 2.5 X 2.5 X 1/4 inch thick square tubing and 1/4 X 4 inch stapping. Treated 3/4 inch plywood for the decking. It cost a little more than I planned. 1300 $ total. I still have to add marker lites and I am installing LED tail lites. All in all the bed ways 500 pounds less and is 2 inches lower than my old bed. It is attached to the frame in 6 places with no welding. Total weight of the truck ( no camper)with me and full fuel (60 gallons or so) 9900 pounds.

Yes I reused my old boxes. I don't know how many plies, the lumber yard calls it "treated". I guess time will tell how long it will last. I want to paint it but the lumber yard said to wait untill the wood dries out?
