I have mounted two Honda gens. in a box in the back of my truck. The box is constructed so that the top and front pivit upward allowing for adequate air circulation [the back and sides of the box are vented too] and also protected from the elements. The exhausts face outward to the sides and have extensions welded to them so that exhaust fumes exit the boxand do not cause additional heat problems. The only problem is that when the a/c unit is running there isn't sufficient fuel to run the units throughout the entire nite. Is there some way of modifying the fuel system on the gens. to be to correct the problem? Boomer 47

Boomer,
Here is what I did:

Exterior Fuel Tank

Not my site, (or my pictures - found this link when I was looking to build mine) but I used a 6 gallon marine tank and hooked it up the same way. Works great - I have run the Honda's overnight on many occasions.

You might also check the eu2000i group on Yahoo. Can't find the link but I know it's there.

boomer47, we did the exact same hook up as MrIcemaker. Works great! Get an extra tank to fill marine tank though if your camping for a while.

You might go to Wal-Mart and get a boat gas tank and tee the hose to each generator. That will give you about four gallons of gas, but you could carry a spare too.

We (i.e. Scott) found a diesel fuel tank from an industrial steam cleaner at Northern Supply. It cost around $70.00. Not sure how this will show up, but here's a link to our pictures.

You might want to visit the site in my sig and look around a bit - search. There are lots of picts and threads there. We'd also like to see this "box" that you made. Do you have any picts? If so, you can post them over on the Yahoo site.
