Mine is due to the fact I am named after my father who was named after his, etc. The name is after Sir F. Drake and I am a Jr. So therefore: sirdrakejr which I came up with in 1992 when I first got on AOL. I still use it there too.

Family story passed down, suggested we had a gr,gr,gr,gr grandfather that died at the alamo. (there is a family name listed on the memorial) We knew that for a long time but finally got around to looking into the geneology and discovered that it was a great uncle that died at the Alamo and his brother (our grandfather) avenged his death later at the battle of San Jacinto. I also found a copy of an original deed in his name issued by the Republic of Texas for 600 acres of land in the Texas hill Country near Johnson City, TX. Family stories suggest the land was later swindled from the family by the Johnson family .

The Atchafalaya River runs through a great swamp by the same name. Having camped, fished and hunted there all my life, my screen-name is representative of that usage.
