How about this one ?
To be fair Dan, I don't have one and have no personal interest other than I had been following a couple of threads regarding this.

to be fair i do and have one on my trucks and cars from day one and i have always stayed under the weight specs..im not saying that there has not been some that have broke but like every thing else it has been over pushed if there was the chance that it was a major problem they would have to recall and replace the hitch reciver that is my opinion and that has not been done...

First thing I did with new truck was replace OEM Hitch with Putnam XDR Class V hitch.

Do class V hitches have a 2" or 2.5" receiver tube? If they're 2.5, which I seem to recall they are, where do you get drawbars from? I've never seen them 2.5".

I chopped off the wiring bracket from the OEM hitch and reused it on the XDR as well.

That's slick! How did you cut that, a wheel? Torch? Looks too smooth for a torch though.

Putnam receivers are very good, but I'm not sure they're any better than any others of the same rating.

Class V receivers have the 2-1/2" square opening. Class IV receivers have a 2" square opening and some are available up to 14,000# rating.

V-5 on a hitch is not a weight rating nor a Class. It is a federal spec that all hitches meet...maybe it just relates to interchangeability or something similar--I can't find more info.

I'm free of prostate cancer for 5 years now.
All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

Hmmm, I thought I was the only one that noticed it's the same pictures and same guys posting in every GM hitch thread.

If it make you feel safer, fine. But I think it's overblown on this site. How many millions of gm trucks are on the roads? Surely there is more then a half dozen or so, towing things.

True, but some of us update the hitch for tongue weight ratings. The XDR has a higher tongue weight rating that the GM OEM does.

Also, firepoggy, if you haven't yet pulled the trigger on the Putnam XDR, there is a guy on ebay under the name bestlesstruck that sells them through eBay or not. He will ship to you and gives a good price (less than $150 total with shipping). Someone on this forum posted that before and it worked well for me so far - just received the hitch and will install closer to when we pull the trigger on a TT.
