A couple of years ago I had a 2004 F-250 and had a front hitch receiver put on it (for $35 installation I had to let them do it).
We have since traded up to a 2006 F-350 and the dealer took off the hitch for me (no charge) but would not reinstall it on the new truck, so it has just sat in my barn for quite some time because I just couldn't seem to get the energy to dissect the installation. I never had instructions to install it and I didn't remove it, so two nights ago I got a bug up my $$$ and just started to take it apart.

Started with removing the fog lights three bolts each and a quick connect for power.
Remove the bumper, two bolts on each side next to the tow hooks and one each side inside of the wheel well.

To install the receiver I had to remove the tow hooks, install the receiver and reinstall the tow hooks. Hooks were three bolts each and the receiver uses four bolts each side, two new ones and the two that also hold on the bumper.

Reinstall the bumper, tie up the electrical for fog lights (taped up the ends to keep out the road grime)

Since I didn't know what I was doing and didn't have an extra set of hands to help hold the bumper while coming off and more so going back on, the whole thing took just a little over one hour.

Bruce,

If you look closely at the brackets for the fog lights you can shave them off and bend the bracket just enough to put your fog lights back on.

I put a front hitch in too--good luck!

We are full-timing it (over the next 18 months while I get my graduate degree) and love every minute of it. We took a 5,000+ mile cross country trip here through multiple parks and states. We have at least 2 trips planned to Yosemite, a trip planned to the Redwoods, Crater Lake, Glacier, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons National parks not including a trip this Winter to Disneyland! --all my friends think I've joined a cult or something the way I talk about "the next trip"

The F350 pulls like a dream--can't say enough good things about it.

Didn't know you could get an advanced degree in truck re-design. Cool.

I got it from a local shop that is now out of business (that is why I had to do the install this time).
I believe it is a Hidden hitch Brand.

I use it for a bike rack and others use it for front racks or even to launch a boat.
