This last weekend we went to South Beach State Park in Newport Oregon. I stayed there many, many years ago and they have really built up the park. I would have to rate it as among the best of the state parks I have stayed in.

Nope, it's not like boondocking where the nearest camper is miles away, but it's still pretty nice. Someone didn't get the memo to them about how unlevel RV spaces are supposed to be -- the spaces were perfectly level - both our spot and the one next to us where my in-laws stayed.

The spots were almost park like!

High tide was in the morning and after sunset. It was a bit windy during the morning, but in the night time it was totally calm and flat:

Without a GPS, I didn't want to stay out past dark so we missed peak time in the evening. We did best with the morning trips. We ended up with 14 Dungenous and 12 rock crab. DW pulled a monster - over 7 1/2"!

I did get the obligatory camper in the sunset picture:

Living out in the boonies like I do, my kids don't often get to ride. DS is finally starting to master the whole pedaling thing so he had a blast:

Sounds like a good trip and nice pix. How do you catch the crab? Dave.

Good deal bro! I like that park too, it's huge!
Hey my kids have a Thursday and Friday off school during one of the October weeks. You up for a trip to Garibaldi/Barview then? My mom and dad plan to go with us and try out their new trailer. I plan to hit the crab hard, maybe some Surf/Jetty fishing, and clamming as well.

I think this is one of the parks I used to stay at with my mom's old motor home. It is deffently a nice park.

I think my favorite park was the one by sunset beach. I was a kid then so maybe it wouldn't be my favorite now though.

My dog is my best friend. My RV is my home. My freadom is my country. My Bible is my law. My family is my love. My life is good.

I guess you could say its all "MY" in otherwords its all about ME.

INSAYN: I'll talk to DW.

luv2skyski: I used slip rings. They have a top and bottom spaced apart about 6 inches. When laying on the bottom, the sides are open. As soon as the rope goes under tension, the side lift and close.

I was there in July. It rained but the ocean was fun. Check out the lighthouse just north of town.
