Since there is so much concern about the dangers of plastic I have decided to switch to Corelle dishes in my PW. Is anyone currently using Corelle in their RV? If so, how do you protect them...especially the cups?

Dishes are not a problem, we use a spring loaded vertical rod (from Camping World) to keep them from sliding around. We replaced the mugs (they were ceramic) with lexan mugs. Used them now for 5 years.

But you have to WASH them! Fine "china" paper is my un-ashamed solution. Custom designs for the seasons, or balloons and other kid colors and stuff if you can stand that first thing in the morning.

We’ve been using corelle dishes and cups for quite sometime and really like them. They’re in thin soft plastic type material used for packing that just keeps them from banging against each other to prevent scratches. They are very durable and even if the were stacked together I don’t think it would be a problem unless they fell hard on the floor. They make such a nice table setting that once you get use to using them you won’t want to go back to paper or plastic except in emergencies.

Corelle dishes were a disaster in our RV. They are made of glass, not ceramic or porcelain. Every time we broke a dish we would find small, very fine shards of glass throughout the van for weeks after. We broke most of them. On one notable occassion the cupboard door sprung open in hard cornering, the dishes hit the floor and all but one shattered. They also rattled as we travelled. We now use plastic or paper plates.

Wow! mjswan2003! We have never broken a Corelle dish or cup. I'm amazed that they break. We have them in our RV. Hope we don't have them all fly out.

In our fifth year full timing and not a break, chip or crack in the Corelle. Just use the rubber mesh underneath.

I have used the Correlle dishes in two different RVs for more years than I can remember. The cups are in a small plastic basket I bought at the dollar store. Other than that, I do not use anything to protect from breakage, and haven't lost one yet.

We've always used Corelle and the only time we broke any was when a plate fell onto the Corian countertop and it did shatter into ten kazillion (at least!) pieces. But we love it and keep it in this rack which keeps them from rattling or falling out. We don't use the cups, as we prefer coffee mugs.
