I can remember as a kid when my father used to buy gas for the car, he would almost always tell the attendent to "Give me two dollars regular." He didn't know the phrase "Fill it up", but two dollars regular would just about do that anyhow.
He'd have to be driving his old lawn mower to "fill it up" for two dollars now.

Walter, I remember as a teenager frequently getting a "dollars worth." Didn't fill the tank, but at .17/gal did a pretty fair fill. With a fillup you got green stamps and some glass give away to boot .

Apparently people have adjusted to the costs. There's still too many cars and trucks on-the-road. I only see prices climbing higher in this regard.

Yes, I also remember the freebies! They used to actually display all that stuff right out by the gas pumps.![cool [emoticon]](http://www.rv.net/sharedcontent/cfb/images/cool.gif)
Maybe that's what they oughta' do to make people feel better about buying gas!![huh [emoticon]](http://www.rv.net/sharedcontent/cfb/images/huh.gif)
