Where is it that you are camping? Looks nice.
Never mind. I did a search and found the campground. Kind of pricey. Are there any national forests in the area?

Windwalker55. Recompence Shore is certainly pricy, and there's not much for amenities, but it's one of the great ones if you get a shore site in West Bay.

Silver,
Thanks for posting and taking us with you.
Always wanted to get to Maine.
And a question, what kind of mpg do you get?
We have the "little brother" to your's, a 04 4x4 ex cab lb except a 1500 with the 5.3 and a 8ft popup camper. Still haven't gotten it on the road yet.

Pricey as in not a National Forest but the views over Casco Bay are incredible. Worth every penny.

Holas everyone:
We're back in Quebec, and are working diligently to get the final Trip Report posted! Stay tuned for our "nature scene" take on Recompence Shore!
BTW: we'll be in next week's Portland newspaper article on Wolfe's Neck Farm gardens volunteers, in the Portland Press Herald: Maine Switch ![biggrin [emoticon]](http://www.rv.net/sharedcontent/cfb/images/biggrin.gif)

Part IV
...let's get down to business here. Our mini expedition to Recompence was not a cover for shopping, it was in fact a greatly needed commune with nature.
Despite the inclement weather, we reveled in Maine's offerings of photo opportunities!
The following is a chronology of our encounters with the local environmental conditions as they happened. From awaking at just after 6:00 AM to record the inside/outside temperatures and surfing the net, to our early morning stroll in the fog, to exploring the low tidal shoreline and tidal pools, tidal rivers, establishing camp, cooking supper (2 home made lobster rolls each, then 3 fresh crab meat rolls each, replete with home-made red bell peppers mayo spread), views out our Outfitter window at Casco Bay, and finally Silverdunes delivering the evening digestives (wine & beer).
Enjoy!

Ayuh! your photos just cooled us off from the 85F in Santa Fe. Beautiful place isn't it. I get the newspaper and will tell the house sitter to save the article.

Dan:
Our trip to Maine from our location about 60-miles east of Montreal (roughly 230 miles each way, + a few short excursions) cost us in gas $183 in 89-octane (medium-test) gasoline, total. The price of a good meal out!
The cost of Recompense was nothing compared to what we lost cancelling our Belfast, Maine reservations!

Where are you staying in Santa Fe?
When we're in Santa Fe, we're up at Las Campanas about 500 feet above the old town...
Cheers!

Silver,
Thanks for the pics and report, sure looks nice.
As for the mpg, I'm trying to compare the 2 trucks, 1/2 and 3/4 ton at similar loads, thinking we might want to upgrade someday, and you have the same truck as us except heavier.
For this, I'm more interested in the total miles and total gals, while interesting, the actual cost is of lesser interest.
