I want to misspell Roger's name. There, I did it.

I'd just like to mention that, although some of us have solicited "cash money" from sponsors in the past for some of the previous rallies, some people have said that they would be willing to pay as much as $50 per person (which is approximately what the per person cost would have been for B5) if sponsorships were to be eliminated.

Asking for "cash money" from sponsors is probably one of the most difficult (in the psychological sense) tasks involved in organizing one of these rallies.

If anyone decides to volunteer to be the organizer of B6, I'd suggest that you tell us whether:

a) it would be a "simple" rally with no meals provided and no rally fee

OR

b) some/all meals would be provided and expected to be paid for by sponsors and with or without a minimal rally fee

OR

c) no sponsorships with some/all meals paid for using a rally fee

OR

d) some/all meals provided using some or all of the funds left over from previous B rallies either with or without a rally fee

I'm sure there's some combination of sponsors/rally fee/leftover rally funds that I've missed, but I think y'all should get the idea.

I completely agree with Lynne's points about sponsorship or lack thereof. Input from the forum members would be very helpful. And pointing this out helps forum members understand that B rally format is not cast in stone.

Items #6 and #7 in the process description address this point. The sponsor(s) of a nominated site, if that site is voted as the site for B6, becomes the organizer of B6 and has the last say on details. Past B rallies can be guides and the organizer(s) should consider all input on this thread but by token of stepping up to the plate they are the final decision maker (along with their team) of how B6 will be organized.

That is how the process is currently written, counter opinions are welcome.

I didn't get Rodger's name in there anywhere to show I do know how to spell it. [emoticon] I had this discussion with Rodger some time back but sometimes (often) my fingers get ahead of my brain.

I agree with Lynne on the "asking for cash" comment. This being a poor sales year for the manufacturers, could make it even harder. However, I too will do whatever I can to help with the next Rally.

It may be hard for some people to ask for money but it has to be put in prospective. This is cheap advertising for the manufacturers and it is directed to a specific target market. They spend a lot more on magazine ads. This money comes out of their advertising budgets and asking them to sponsor a specific event at a rally is no different than selling them ad space in a magazine except that they get a bigger bang for their buck with us.

The sponsors and the meals they provided at B5 were much appreciated. And the work it took by y'all to get them to do so. I personally would rather pay a reasonable rally fee ($50? $100?)to have some meals and other stuff provided, with or without sponsors. The people behind the last rally worked like dogs, i am sure, but it was very relaxing to not have to think about cooking that weekend. all in all, hard to beat how great a rally B5 was.

What happened to everyone. Last year lots of talking. Perhaps everyone is out enjoying the summer on road trips. I just wondered aren't we supposed to be talking about B6 now? I just have not seen a post for 24 days and I thought I would say what is going on. Janie

There's not much to talk about until some brave souls nominate some sites for B6. [emoticon] Then we can discuss their merits and vote on where we want to go for B6.
