Misc:
- TC Manufacturers Attending:
....Arctic Fox
....Lance
....Northern Lite
....North Star
....Palomino Campers
....Oregon Campers
- Some notable TC manufacturers not attending: Alaskan Camper, Eagle Cap, Four Wheel Campers, Halmark Campers, Host, Outfitter and S&S Campers
- Saw Bilstein Shocks (didn't see Rancho there)
- Saw Firestone Ride Rite Air Bags (didn't see Air Lift there)
- Saw Atwood and Rieco-Titan Camper Jacks (didn't see Happijac there)
- Didn't see Happijac or Torklift Tie-downs there
- Didn't see Timbren or Super Springs there
- Saw a small Northern Light TC with hydraulic jacks
- The Lance 2009 brochure shows both 9k and 13k A/C units
- I think there were about 60 or 70 truck campers there
- Can't name names, but many of the manufacturers said that they expect to benefit from the manufacturers who have gone out of business. This is especially true of manufacturers that build very similar products and completed head up with a competitor who has shut their doors. Overall, they seemed much more optimistic about the future of the RV industry than I had expected.

As Expected, Louisville Show Attendance Falls
RV Business
Friday, December 5, 2008

Overall attendance was down 38.5% at this week’s National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky., from last year’s event, according to the host Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).

Reflecting the impact of a weakened economy, the number of attendees fell to 8,427 versus 13,694 in 2007.

“In light of the economy, we expected attendance to be off from last year,” said Bill Baker, senior director of communications for RVIA. “But despite the down numbers, we still had reports of relatively steady business among exhibitors.”

A breakdown of attendance included:

• 2,934 RV dealer personnel, down 38.9% from 4,799 in 2007

• 195 accessory store personnel, down 54.2% from 426 in ‘07

• 100 warehouse distributors, down 35.9% from 156 last year

• 27 campground owners, down 32.5% from 40 in 2007

• 3,256 total in buying categories, down 39.9% from 5,421 last year

The disparity was in line with the latest wholesale shipment report that showed overall deliveries in October fell 52.5%. For the 10 months, shipments were 27.2% behind last year’s pace.

Either you went in early / after hours or there are not very many people there. That's not a good sign.

Admin,

I don't know how to judge the turn out because I've never been to one before. Wednesday seemed to be much more crowed than Tuesday. It's a 3 day show (Tues-Wed-Thurs), maybe tuesday was a travel day for some. Just about all the vendors I spoke with said that they felt like attendance was down over previous years.

The place was BIG and it was full of RV's. I guess they could have squeazed a few more in there somewhere. I think they had about 1,000,000 squarefeet. They had every kind of RV I could think of; from tiny pop-ups to be pulled behind a motorcycle to humongous diesel pushers.

All in all, well worth the drive up.

Way more lookers at Lake Ogalalla both 2006 and 2007. Maybe those 2 groups should combine their shows here in Nebraska.

thanks for the pictures Brad.

If the show had been in Nebraska there would have been 1000 visitors... and the dealers would have had to make very long trips to get there....

as far as visitors who would drive 1500 miles to see something they aren't going to buy.

Louisville is within 500 miles of a large part of the US Population.

There area lot of look-e-loo's that go to the shows with no intention of ever buying anything. After 5 years of going to the shows they know every detail but have never slept a night in a RV.

We have been to one show... bought one camper... slept 704 nights in it.

Sorry, but I must have seen 60 or 70 truck campers and the details are all running together in my mind. I will say that the Adventurers were the first ones we saw and they looked very nice. I don't think I had ever seen an Adventurer TC up close before.

Looking at the additional photos in the link...I had no idea one could buy a Lance Camper through Costco. I'll bet they beat my local rip-off dealer price!
