Thought I would tease you all with our latest trip to Diamond Lake. Absolutely perfect trip. Clear and 45ºF during the day, clear and 11ºF at night. Camper interior stayed 70ºF. Snow was extremely perfect for riding. We packed on 120 miles on the ATV's in the following slideshows.

WOW!!! Great pics and gorgeous country. Thanks for sharing!!

Is that a normal amount of snow for Diamond Lake? Are you able to ride quads up there every year or does the snow get too deep?

Thanks......DJ

We started riding up there in 2005 Superbowl Weekend. That year the snow was wet and slushy at 5000 ft, but got better as you go up in elevation. Diamond Lake is right at about 5000 ft.

From there we have had good to moderate snow.

2008 was NUTZ! We got 4' of snow in 24 hours. We only stayed one night and bailed. The snow was already 20' deep and still coming down. They closed all routes in/out of Diamond Lake for 3 weeks just after we left.

2009 was about 6' of highly packed snow, groomed to perfection and the weather was perfectly clear.

Insayn,
Isn't diamond lake on of the few places that you can ride quads on the snow?

I (2-10-05) bought a 2002 F350 CC SWD PSD and a new 2003 Citation 10'8. I have been a tent camper all my life. I wanted more comfort while camping and CraterLake Ski Patrol.
It's time for more space. I purchased a 2016 Grand Design 380TH as of 10-29-2015.

Nice photos Insayn. Looks like a blast. Almost makes me want to have ATV's instead of dirt bikes. Almost. [emoticon] I'm still bummed my wife bought a new washer and had the old one taken (when I was gone for a summer) as I was planning on salvaging the drum for camp fires following your lead. Seems to work very well.

You can ride all the way up and around Lemolo Lake, Cresent Lake and down Hwy 97 through Chemult and back to Diamond Lake. Or go around Hamaker Mountain that is west of Crater lake. Heck you can even ride trails out of Cresent and LaPine areas and head out to Newberry Crater.

There are lots of trails that are open to ATV's, it's whether the snow conditions allow for it. The narrower trails are not groomed as the groomer just won't fit, or there are cliffs they would fall off of. It really comes down to snow pack density. Most of the snow we just rode on was 6'+ and nice and packed like dirt.
