When we finally left the Phoenix area we followed spokncarls advice and went north east on highway 87...

I can encourage people that want to do months long travel to find some diversions for the days not sight-seeing or trsveling.

We read.. and share the books we've read with friends along the way. They share with us of course.

We feel that we are among the most lucky people ever. Just before we left Phoenix, AZ The Wild Horse Pass reservation hosted a training and licencing program for more than 300 people... to learn how to do professional Fire Work presentations.

We had a ring side view of this un-announced show. These are hand held snap shots.

We entered the Petrified Forest from the south after sleeping in Snowflake the night before. We would be heading almost due north... ending at the Painted Desert.

This very tall petrified tree has been supported with concrete... too many people sneek and walk it.

There is an area where you can hike ... hot and hard to climb into and worse to get out of..

In the bottom of the canyon plants are trying to grow...

and then a climb out with frequent rests.

a first look at the horizan as we returned from the bottom

an exhausted partner... me too! Our hair is as wet as if we'd just showered. Thank goodness for a camper with the shower built in.

My wife noticed the sign language "I Love You" cactus 3 years ago... we have taken pictures of it many times since. We have greeted each other with the sign for years.... I'm partially deaf!

I-40 bisects the Painted Desert... you can see the traffic in the back ground.

As the sun gets lower in the sky the colors fade... and fewer people care to look

I used a window in an old building for a frame..

This artifact was in the building... under the window
