Leaving Maui sailed southeast to the big island... Hilo, Hawaii. This is the youngest island, it is a massive Volcano.

We went ashore in Hilo and shopped for clothes and visited the local things. Janet had problems with sulphur 2 years ago around the north western US volcanos... we chose to avoid them on this island.

Hilo is midway between north and south on the eastern side of the island... when we sailed from there we went south, then west around the most southern point in the USA. We then followed the coast north to Kona... about midway of the island.

When you go through Biloxi say hi for me ---I spent a few months there myself in 1961. I enjoyed Tech school but not the heat.

The harbor and pier in Kona weren't big enough for our ship. NCL dropped lifeboat/tenders in the water to haul us ashore. Whatching them do it and getting to ride them in was a fun experience for us hillbilly folks.

There was a lot of room inside... put wheels on one of these babies and have the start of the ultimate RV... or put it on BTGraphics truck[emoticon]

At every port FREE transportation awaited us... we would be the only ship there for a week and they needed our shopping dollars. There were vans, mini buses, buses, trollys...

Good, level boondocking spots that would fit our truck camper. And a plus... shopping at WalMart

and a class c waiting to sneak in on us (The only RV that we saw while in Hawaii was here in Kona)

"Home" sure looks pretty.

After some hard shopping... clothes for tomorrow and a little extra.... remember, we didn't bring clothes with us, we buy new ones for everyday.

There must have been other hillbillys there... there were spectators to watch the boats being reloaded. We watched from our little balcony.

Maybe there is a solution here for getting canoes on top of our truck campers????

Sometimes we'd explore the ship... we never did see it all. Sometimes we'd just rest on the balcony or in our room. We ate a lot!

Our steward would leave us treats...

Maybe if we had a towel cobra we could keep critters out of our campers.
