Even the area behind the ship was a movie set... there is a river flowing into the bay.

I believe that for the movie buff this tour is a must...the rest of us will just enjoy it.

The scenery for us is as good as it was for the movie makers...

We went to Hilo Hatties when we were on the big island. Cool place.

At one time there was a Hilo Hatties store at Opry Mills, Nashville, TN.

We bought things there... and a lot of the ABC stores. We ended up with a lot of clothes... the UPS bill to ship them home was as much as the clothes.

We found the prices reasonable.

We went to a Lu'au the same day that we did the movie site tour. It was too much... but still fun.

This was the first time that we felt what we believed to be the authentic Hawaiian welcome.

.... as opposed to the (un)welcome we got when we got off the airplane as we arrived in Honolulu... and the greeter didn't present us with a Leia or a smile. She poorly represented the company that booked our vacation.

There was a large audience enjoying the show and the food ( I have to say though... the ship food was better... it was fantastic.

It was very hard to get pictures with a hand held camera in a very dark room, with long distances, fast movements, and multiple bright fires. Also people shooting pictures with their cell phones using flash from 75 to 100 feet away didn't help.

Was it important... not really.

I did learn a little more about our digital cameras and will probably continue to use the auto feature most of the time. Traveling in the truck and camper means that many of our shot opportunities are "one time, quick decision, from less than ideal condition situations" We'd rather have a "lucky picture" than "no picture"

Capt PJ when off-duty (on the boats that he works on) teaches his guests how to get the most out of their cameras. How to use everything but the auto selection.

Now, if I can just get him to sign on for another Alaska Inner Island cruise... we'd sign up for the trip.

on our 6th day we had free time until the 2 pm sail time. We went ashore to explore the town on foot after a breakfast that our cardiologist would have chest pains from just looking at... wow... the food on the ship is good! I gained a ton myself.
