Spot Scott
4/26/95 - 3/27/09

On April 26th 1995 Kim & I were leaving to go to work, it was a cold rainy morning and on our back deck we found a tiny little puppy (he appeared to be about 2 or 3 months old). We assumed he belonged to a neighbor, we said Hi to him and had to go to work. I told Kim if he was still there when we got home, we would look for the owners and go from there. Little did I know she had fed him a piece of chicken so of course he was there when we arrived back home. We took him to all the neighbors but no one had any idea where he came from, we ended up keeping him and giving him the name Spot.

And now our favorite camping buddy has made his last trip, we had to say goodbye to Spot this morning.
He had some seizures and the Vet wasn't able to make him better, he is camping in our back field now, where we would always go for walks.

I just wanted to share some photos of our times together, sorry so many but this doesn't even touch what we have in the archive.
All the small photos are click-able to see it full size.

Wow! Spot really got around!....and was quite the lap dog!!
We are so sorry for your loss....it is obvious just how much he meant to you guys, and what a huge part of your lives he was. He has now crossed over the rainbow bridge, and with so many other "camping dogs" that have crossed before him.

Words really can't console you, but we want you to know that it does get a bit easier. Time does in fact heal all wounds! I would recommend looking for another travel companion.....it won't be Spot, but you will love it almost the same!

We need these dogs in our lives....they really make us better people. I have a bumper sticker:
"My dogs are not my whole life...but they make my life whole!"

We had to put down 2 of our beloved dogs a few months ago...both on the same day. Fortunately for my wife, we had 6 more dogs at home.....they really helped my wife make it through the loss of her "heart dog", Cookie.

Again, our thoughts and prayers are with you and Spot.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our 13 year old dog Mo just last Saturday, so I think I understand a bit of what you are going through right now. It was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make but it was the right one for Mo as the Vet told us he wasn't going to get better and would end up suffering.

No words I can say will take away how you are feeling right now. But, I can say that even after just 6 days it is getting just a bit easier to cope with. It is easier now to think about the joy our dog brought us all his life. Your dog Spot looks like he had a wonderful home and a terrific life with you - thanks for posting all the tremendous pictures.

Take care.

Ouch. Silverdunes & I would like to convey our sincerest condolences. It will be tough for a while, however all the documentation you've made over the years with Spot you'll have forever.

If you think appropriate, I could put a special Trip Report into TR to kind of immortalize Spot, virtually?

I'm sorry for your loss. My buddies are getting long in the tooth so I fear we are not too far behind. It's great that you have so many photos (and memories) of him. Hang in there.

Thanks for the wonderful pictures of Spot. We also have great pix and memories of dogs that have touched our lives and moved on. You look like you were the best doggie parents and you should be sharing your lives with another dog!

Sorry for your loss, you treated him very well and included him in all your travels. Nothing will exactly replace him but puppy breath will be in your future.
