Beautiful pics, and looks like a good time - pardon my ignorance, but aside from the stunningly beautiful landscape, what do they grow tulips for? I mean, is there a commercial value as a crop, like harvesting and selling the bulbs to gardeners? You can tell I live in the desert..... flowers are pretty much a luxury most of the year around here.

I was stationed at Ault Field in the early '60s. As a search and rescue hoist operator on a Navy helicopter, I flew under the Deception Pass Bridge once on a "search mission", looking for a lost boat.
Well, it seemed like a good excuse at the time.

Why Tulips
The above link may help. But seeing field after field of tulips in full bloom is special. We went to see them yesterday, a day well spent.
