Went to the Astoria, OR. Crab and Seafod Festival. We stayed at Fort Stevens. Fort Stevens is a very nice Oregon State Park. Reservations are a must over the summer months. Lots of interesting historical military stuff around the park. There is also a museum. The beach is a nice long walk or you can drive on it. See the remains of the wreck of the ship, Peter Iredale. There are lots of paved nature trails in the park so people with mobility challenges can access trails and see things too. The crab festival, I think was more of a wine festival. We tried the three winning wines and thought they were ok. I'm not a wine snob so someone else would have to say how good the wines were. I found 1st and 2nd place to be oaky tasting and wet, 3rd place seemed watery and vague in taste. I didn't bother with pictures at the crab festival. No inspiration. However, here are the pictures from Fort Stevens and Astoria.

This was an interesting time. We went shopping at Safeway and saw the view was so nice, we decided to make dinner in the Safeway parking lot and watch the view. Ships going by, birds and a trolly car with a local high school's girls glee club singing songs. That was interesting to hear them and hear them sing a few songs.

The girls loved Charlie as Kelli held him.

We took a tour of the "Steadfast".

We had a good time on the Steadfast and her crew was very nice to us. We spent a couple hours in the Astoria Maritime Museum.

Here is the school where "Kindergarten Cop" was filmed.

On the way home, I liked the shot of the bridge over the Columbia River at Kelso/Longview with Mt. Saint Helens in the background.

Astoria is a nice place to visit. Next trip is the Air and Space Museum in Tillamook. There's a UFO festival there later in the summer that should be a kick.

Astoria is a great place and you had good weather. Looks like you had a good time even if the wine was so so. We were there 10 days ago so I'll add a few pictures.

The view from the tower is fantastic. Much like the Space Needle here at home. We went up the tower last year and enjoyed a nice rainy, windy day from up there. Did not make it to Fort Clatsop this time. Still on the list of things to do. I like your TC in front of the tower picture. Looks real nice.

Alright Jeff & Kelli, you have too much time on your hands for fun. Thanks for the pictures. We used to go to Yahats quite a bit when we lived in Bend. Absolutely love the northwest coast. More, more!

Me having too much fun. I've seen your posts. You're the one who's out having to much fun. I felt I had to go out camping and get me some fun before you soaked it all up.

You lived in Bend. Nice town. Mt Batchler is a blast. May go to Tiger Run this year with friends to show their 67 GTO's, drink beer and eat pizza.

The other thing on my list of things to do near Bend is camp and hike in the lava fields around there.

We camped at Ft. Stevens in 2007 after the Seattle to Portland bicycle classic. It is a great campground to see with lots of neat stuff nearby. I want to go back.
